Responsibilities
The work you may do
Office Work/Design
CAD work and 3D design on highway and bridge improvement projects
Project plan & specifications development
Providing quantity take off reviews and developing estimates for highway and bridge construction projects.
Field Work/Construction Management
Topographic survey, or other project data collection
Construction field inspection/staking operations
Complete Inspector Daily Reports (IDR's) and other DOT reports
Measure and compute item quantities installed on the project

What you bring
Skills & Knowledge / Education & Experience:
Minimum 2.75 GPA required
Pursuing a Bachelor's degree (or related) in Civil Engineering required, transportation focus preferred
Sophomore to senior standing required
A valid driver's license required
Previous related engineering intern or co-op experience preferred
Prior experience in the transportation field preferred
Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Excel required
Microstation or AutoCAD experience preferred
A desire to learn more about transportation engineering projects in a consulting industry

S&ME's Spark Internship Program is open to current students from a variety of different educational backgrounds and career focus. Internship opportunities are available across our various Service Lines including: Civil Engineering, Construction Services and Materials Testing, Environmental Services and Industrial Hygiene, Geotechnical Engineering, and Transportation Design-Build.
As part of the 2026 Spark Internship Program, you will work alongside experienced professional and technical employee-owners within your area of interest. You will be a part of an intern cohort and will learn about all aspects of S&ME. Qualifications:
