Mueller is the nation's leading manufacturer of flow control devices for the water distribution industries and North America's largest and only full-line supplier of potable water distribution products, is currently seeking candidates for its Engineering Internship located in Kimball, TN.
The ideal Mueller Engineer Intern will work full time during the summer semester.
Interns will be assigned to:
Designing and implementing manufacturing processes, equipment, and documentation to achieve the production goals of the organization
Involved in process improvement initiatives and projects to improve the manufacturing processes
Revising documentation used in manufacturing processes and assisting operators on a day-to-day basis
Identify and develop process and equipment needed to produce specific products, parts, and components.
Create and update engineering drawings, models, and layouts using CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar.
Participate in root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for production issues.

The ideal Engineer Intern will work full time during summer semester and may be invited to continue part time for additional semesters. All Engineering internships are paid positions at $20 per hour.

Clean up extra unused tooling at each work-center and inventory it to be sharpened or reused.
Set up tool packages for CNC machine changeovers to ensure CNC operators have all tooling they need to perform quick changeovers.
Inventory current tooling used at work-centers (such as custom-made boring heads) to help identify where spare tooling will be required to help production flow.
Assist the CNC operators in part changeover duties in pit-crew style changeovers to help the changeover go quicker and smoother.
Help complete program changes/transfers when CNC Programmer needs support.
Perform other duties, as assigned.

What You'll Do

• Accurately read labels, job site maps/directions, instruction manuals and written instructions.
• Employee must have ability to acquire / maintain personal hand tools and other tools necessary for this position (line-worker belt, hooks, scare strap, tool pouch, nut bag and line-worker high top boots) as directed.
• Valid Driver's License and have own transportation. (Note Public Transportation does not always serve most sites). Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required.
• Other miscellaneous duties, as assigned, to assist with the completion of a task.

Assists the crane operator in the proper set-up of the equipment.
Assists the crane operator in the maintenance of the crane and accessory equipment. (i.e., pickup trucks, haul trucks, trailers, etc.)
Understands and can perform proper rigging techniques to ensure safe lifting of the load.
Utilizes proper hand signals during all operations of the crane.
Properly secures equipment to the trailer before operating truck.
Inspects truck and trailer and fills out truck inspection report before operating the vehicle. Turns in inspection report to the proper supervisor.
Reports mechanical defects in writing on the truck and/or trailers to the shop technician or a supervisor.
Monitors inventory of the chains, boomer, and straps assigned to the truck and reports to supervisor of missing equipment. Inspects, cleans, and performs maintenance on chains, boomer, and straps.
Documents and turns in all maintenance and repairs performed on the equipment to the proper supervisor.
Cleans the outside and cab area of your assigned vehicle daily.
Monitors the annual State inspection and State license plates and reports to the supervisor one month in advance before the expiration date.
Reports to Dispatcher immediately on completion of assigned job task for next assignment.
At the end of the shift reviews next day(s) job assignment and have all necessary rigging and equipment ready before ending the shift.
Completes payroll timesheet with the hours worked. Hours must be reported to the branch office by 10:00 PM Sunday Night.
Carries and answers phone in a prompt manner.

Grid Strategy, Planning & Integration - Maintain distributed energy sites on the Distribution Grid (batteries and solar sites) while interfacing with Engineering, Controls, and Maintenance. Some example projects would be programming site RTACS to interface with our PII server, programming our RTACS to automate dispatch), analyzing performance data (this could be operations data from or maintenance data), or troubleshooting issues. This will provide the intern with real world experience in renewables, primarily energy storage. The Grid Planning Studies team focuses on transmission-level analysis of generator additions and modifications in Duke Energy Carolinas, Duke Energy Florida, and Duke Energy Progress. These generation resources include but are not limited to solar, battery, and natural gas sites that may range from several MW to in excess of 1 GW. In addition to developing foundational knowledge related to transmission planning activities, the intern position will provide hands-on experience with power flow tools such as PSS E and TARA.
