As a Relationship Manager (“RM”), the individual is responsible for managing business development activities related to a portfolio of Japanese corporate clients-particularly in sectors such as real estate, logistics, materials, and others-as well as prospects, with the primary objective of generating revenue opportunities that align with the goals of the Bank and the Division. The RM, primarily handling large-scale credit and deposit clients, builds and strengthens relationships with both existing and potential clients to deliver comprehensive banking services and cross-sell MUFG products, while effectively managing credit risk in collaboration with colleagues in Japanese Corporate Banking and other relevant Divisions and Departments.
Major responsibilities:
New Business Development (50%)
Develop, maintain, and work to broaden and deepen close business relationships with existing clients as well as cultivate business with prospective customers.
Collaborate with members of Portfolio Management, Client Services, Product Offices, and RMs of Japanese Primary Offices and other relevant parties in providing high quality overall banking services to the clients.
Maintain regular calling effort with key members of the client and report to Management all important dialogues.
Advise clients, where possible, concerning business management and financial matters.
Serve as first contact officer for clients for matters relating to all banking services and advise clients, where possible, concerning business management and financial matters
Cross-Selling Additional Bank Product (15%)
Lead the deal and preparation of lending proposals and pitches as a key member to prospective clients with efforts to maximize penetration and returns as well as delivers activities in instituting cross-selling initiatives to clients across all areas of the bank and transitioning them into significant sales in collaboration with Product Office members by proactively identifying transaction opportunities, marketing each product to identified clients, negotiating the terms and conditions, and executing and documenting the transactions. Such products will include derivatives, capital markets activities, foreign exchange, mergers and acquisitions, leasing, securitization, syndications, structured and trade finance, and cash management activities.
Team Management (10%)
Supervise, train, and develop Marketing Officers (MO) in the team, conduct performances review of direct reports, and recommend personnel actions including hiring, promotion, and salary-increases.
Contribute to the overall team operation and cohesion from a managerial perspective, fostering team-building and enhancing member motivation.
Manage Credit Risks as “First Line of Defense”(10%)
Act as the “First Line of Defense” taking part in client diligence along the Portfolio Management Team & Credit Department in both deal origination and ongoing maintenance
Extend credit to clients identified as qualified clients based on their creditworthiness and credit requirements as well as their "fit" with the MUFG organization. With guidance from Management and consultation with Credit Divisions, establish and negotiate terms and conditions under which credit will be extended to various clients, making sure the terms are in compliance with the bank policy guidelines. When necessary, prepare credit applications and obtain approvals from relevant Credit Divisions.
Collect and analyze information that reflects the current creditworthiness of the clients. Obtain information through (i) direct inspection of the clients' business and collateral, (ii) review of interim financial reports, (iii) personal interviews, and (iv) review of other relevant documents. Monitor financial conditions and loan repayment activities of credit watch clients and take necessary actions to amend terms and conditions or collect past-due accounts. When necessary, prepare periodic credit review reports and perform credit control duties.
Policy Compliance (5%)
Ensure compliance with external regulatory requirements (JFSA, BOJ, FRB, OCC).
Ensure adherence to all bank policies and procedures relative to Regulatory Compliance including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act, USA Patriot Act, Anti-Money Laundering Act, Know Your Customers (KYC), Suspicious Activity Reports (SARS), Currency and Transaction Reporting (CTR) and etc. (5%).
Others (10%)
Maintain good relationships with local community, local business association, and customers through Corporate Social Responsibility activities.
Keep abreast of local, national and international economic, financial and political events and climates that could have an impact on commercial lending activities.
Perform special projects and duties relating to departmental services as assigned, including tasks related to internal and external audits and examinations.
Take ownership of budget management responsibilities to ensure alignment with revenue growth objectives and cost efficiency as part of broader managerial accountability.
QUALIFICATIONS:
8+ years of experience in financial industry or large corporate with in-depth knowledge of business and finance practices, international banking transactions, lending regulations & procedures, and marketing strategies.
Minimum 5 years of corporate banking experience in US and/or international market place
Extensive knowledge of overall corporate banking operations/or (front/middle/back office) in Japan and overseas and exposure to business, finance practices, procedures and policies.
Strong interpersonal skills, financial aptitude and broad analytical ability
Excellent oral and written communications kills including excellent business writing, editing, and proofreading skills in both Japanese and English
Knowledge of domestic and foreign financial markets and products, including nonbanking financial institutions
Strong commercial orientation
Ability to work independently and think creatively
A Bachelor's degree, an MBA a plus

Job Summary:
The Japanese Corporate Banking (JCB) Client Services Analyst's primary responsibility is to assist JCB corporate banking clients in responding their inquiries and requests, determining appropriate pricing of loans and deposits based on the market condition at the time of request and relationship status and instructing middle and back office to book transactions once the rates are agreed upon. As a JCB Client Services Analyst, you will contribute to the growth of JCB and maximize overall client satisfaction. It is also your responsibility to proactively reach out to the clients in case of irregular activities at their account to resolve any discrepancies as well as funding shortage in order to protect the client fund by acting as the first line of defense protecting the bank's capital, liquidity, and reputation. JCB Client Services Analyst performs the essential function within the Client Services Department (CSD) of Japanese Corporate Banking (JCB), offering a wide range of services such as loans, deposit, investment, cash management and foreign exchange (FX), and play a critical role to differentiate MUFG's JCB itself from US local competitors.
Primary Responsibilities include:
Perform critical Interaction with JCB clients (80%):
Monitor maturing loans, deposits and foreign exchange (FX) transactions, proactively reaching out to the clients to ensure the client's funding, saving and forex needs are properly addressed each day
Determine the rate applicable to the clients based on the relationship status and credit approval conditions and seek funding rates from Global Market Division
Instructs the back office operations to proceed with booking the transactions once the terms and conditions of the products are agreed upon ensuring those meeting approved conditions confirming sufficient credit capacity,
Close foreign exchange deals (buying and selling) with all major currencies for spot dates and also set forward option contracts
Arrange standby domestic/Caymen/money market for various terms and conditions ensuring the rate quoted meeting all internal guidelines
Improving/maintaining client satisfaction by respond in a timely manner to various client inquiries and requests.
Deepen awareness and limit the potential for fraud. Investigate any suspicious activities and wire transfers, contacting clients to ensure all funding and fund transfers are properly authorized by registered representatives.
Monitor NSF(non-sufficient fund) data throughout the day and contact the client and relationship manager to address the NSF not to lead to overdraft
Monitor WIP account to ensure every entry should be accounted for to have correct GL data
Meet with the client to brief on the services CSD provides and support the relationship manager to market JCB's full service and dedicated client service resources
Inter-department coordination to address the client request and inquiries and contribute to department management through participation into trainings, projects and maintaining comprehensive data (20%):
Maintain full understanding of the Bank's internal policies and procedures relevant to credit policies (ACP/ACRP), transaction banking products, acquire knowledge and keep abreast of overall banking operation and products as well as the financial market conditions.
Work with Transaction Banking Client delivery team to follow up with the client to address any issues.
Participate in departmental and JCB cross unit projects.
Update and maintain a variety of databases; retrieve data to produce reports, conduct analyses, and respond to client and management inquires.
Participate in Kaizen activity to improve accuracy and efficiency of operations and prepare and update CSD operation manuals and procedures, if any.
Perform duties as assigned by Department Head including, such as:
Assist with State, Federal, and internal audits.
Investigate and provide solutions for past due and pending items.
Qualification:
A Bachelor's degree or have equivalent work experience is required
Minimum one (1) year of client services work experience in Financial Services industry is required
Prior experience in corporate banking, wealth management or at a senior retail branch level is preferred
In-depth knowledge of corporate banking procedures, products and operations (Loan, Deposit, Foreign Exchange, a full suite of transaction banking products, wire transfer, ACH), trade finance products (SBLC, LC, BB BR)
Excellent communication skills with attention to details and problem-solving capacity is required (Japanese language proficiency is preferred)
Be able to communicate effectively and build positive working relationships with various internal partners
Knowledge of basic PC applications (MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
Basic knowledge of accounting principles

Compensation:
The expected annual salary for this position is between $100,000-120,000 annually at the start of employment. Job Description
For all credit granting business units determined to fall under the credit risk departments responsibility (as determined by Senior Management and/or Credit Policy) the Credit Risk Officer (“CRO”) will:
Provide an opinion on the acceptability of any credit proposal which meets the threshold for CRO review per loan policy. For credits requiring Credit Committee approval this is to be a written opinion which outlines the basis for the recommendation. Recommendations can be to support or decline and may carry conditions.
Opine on the accuracy of the risk rating on all credits presented to a CRO for review.
Provide guidance to the account officer and business unit management for all prospective credit requests. Guidance to include feedback on creditworthiness, loan structuring, compliance with bank policy and assessing the completeness and accuracy of the credit underwriting. This guidance is to come in conjunction with that of the business unit management.
Identify all “at risk” credits (risk rated 6W or worse) and credits noted for Extra Attention in conjunction with the line officers and assure that they are properly reported at the quarterly watch list meetings. Specific guidance on action plans and remedial efforts is expected.
The CRO will monitor the portfolio performance of their assigned units for the below credit quality measures, when such information is available:
Weighted average risk ratings
Risk rating changes/migrations
Past due items
Non-accruals
Charge offs/recoveries
Expired and expiring lines
Overdrafts
Over lines and over advances
The CRO will provide input to management on the adequacy of the Bank's Credit Policy.
The CRO will provide input to business line management on the credit skills of line unit staff and when appropriate will offer training and/or guidance on credit related issues to the line unit staff.
The CRO will assist management in portfolio review activities as a special project if a specific concern arises.
The CRO is expected to remain current on financial and market trends which would impact the credit portfolios served as well as general credit risk issues in the industry.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
Minimum 15 years of experience in a role of Commercial Credit granting.
Candidate will have a predominant background in Commercial Real Estate and Private Banking

We are seeking multiple project finance professional(s) with portfolio management experience to conduct credit analysis of project finance transactions. MUFG's top performing project finance practice covers multiple verticals including power/renewable energy, oil and gas, infrastructure and Latin America. There may also be an opportunity to support aviation finance and leasing.
The selected colleague will work in our downtown Los Angeles office four days per week and work remotely one day.
Responsibilities:
Oversee the existing credit portfolio of loans compromised of Project Finance, Infrastructure Finance, Syndicated Loans, Energy, Leveraged Lending Loans.
Identify emerging risks in assigned portfolio.
Perform ongoing credit reviews of individual accounts through regular/ad-hoc credit review process and closely monitoring existing Problem Loans and Watch List accounts.
Conduct site visits and attend bank/customer meetings.
Coordinate and communicate critical account information independently and directly to various related parties throughout the bank, business line, product groups and credit divisions.
Monitor matured/maturing loans/credit lines and coordinate appropriate renewal.
Ensure compliance with external regulatory/internal policy and procedural requirements.
The right candidate will have:
Relative work experience in financial institutions or equivalent in credit and/or risk related function
Sound knowledge of credit analysis, credit and risk management
Ability to understand and work with complex financial models to assess the borrower's repayment ability
Experience in analyzing/supporting project finance credits. Credit experience in aviation finance or other structured finance (securitization, leasing) is a plus
Sound knowledge of finance, accounting, loan documentation and credit/structural risks in various project finance sectors
High level of proficiency in financial calculations
Increasing ability with level to influence and drive complex initiatives and manage logistics with internal stakeholders.
An understanding of the regulatory environment in the U.S. (OCC, FRB). An understanding of the regulatory environment in Japan (FSA, BOJ) is a plus
Administrative agency and/or workout experience is a plus
BA or BS required, MBA preferred

Position Summary:
The Transaction Banking Product and Digital Channels teams consist of skilled Product Managers, Business Analysts, Technical Support representatives, and Project Managers dedicated to developing and maintaining online banking products that fulfill our customers' financial requirements. Job Description
For all credit granting business units determined to fall under the credit risk departments responsibility (as determined by Senior Management and/or Credit Policy) the Credit Risk Officer ("CRO") will:
* Provide an opinion on the acceptability of any credit proposal which meets the threshold for CRO review per loan policy. For credits requiring Credit Committee approval this is to be a written opinion which outlines the basis for the recommendation. Recommendations can be to support or decline and may carry conditions.
* Opine on the accuracy of the risk rating on all credits presented to a CRO for review.
* Provide guidance to the account officer and business unit management for all prospective credit requests. Guidance to include feedback on creditworthiness, loan structuring, compliance with bank policy and assessing the completeness and accuracy of the credit underwriting. This guidance is to come in conjunction with that of the business unit management.
* Identify all "at risk" credits (risk rated 6W or worse) and credits noted for Extra Attention in conjunction with the line officers and assure that they are properly reported at the quarterly watch list meetings. Specific guidance on action plans and remedial efforts is expected.
* The CRO will monitor the portfolio performance of their assigned units for the below credit quality measures, when such information is available:
* Weighted average risk ratings
* Risk rating changes/migrations
* Past due items
* Non-accruals
* Charge offs/recoveries
* Expired and expiring lines
* Overdrafts
* Over lines and over advances
* The CRO will provide input to management on the adequacy of the Bank's Credit Policy.
* The CRO will provide input to business line management on the credit skills of line unit staff and when appropriate will offer training and/or guidance on credit related issues to the line unit staff.
* The CRO will assist management in portfolio review activities as a special project if a specific concern arises.
* The CRO is expected to remain current on financial and market trends which would impact the credit portfolios served as well as general credit risk issues in the industry.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
* Minimum 15 years of experience in a role of Commercial Credit granting.
* Candidate will have a predominant background in Commercial Real Estate and Private Banking
* Any experience with Commercial and Industrial lending would also be a positive attribute
