FTE: .4, Shift: Day, Schedule: variable Position Summary The Patient Access Technician (PAT) is an exciting opportunity at MultiCare, responsible for welcoming patients at one of our Off-Campus Emergency Departments. This position works closely with both financial and clinical teams and will offer you the space to create the optimum patient experience. Responsibilities You will assure complete and accurate patient admissions/registrations according to organization policy and procedures and regulatory requirements You will obtain inpatient bed assignments and processes inpatient admission, to include arm banding, addressograph plate, and completion of necessary forms You will pre-admit all scheduled inpatient, outpatients and ambulatory patients to facilitate a smooth and speedy admission/registration process You will obtain direct admit information and enter a reservation in the computer system in order to notify other areas You will complete comprehensive bedside or telephone interviews with patient, relative, or their representative to obtain pertinent demographic insurance and/or third party liability information You will perform eligibility verification and resolves any discrepancies, determine need for financial assistance recommendation and application, referring to the Financial Counselor where necessary Requirements Graduate of health vocational program such as patient access, medical assistance, medical billing and insurance or medical general, required One year of admitting, billing, registration or custom service experience may be considered in lieu of education Our Values As a MultiCare employee, we'll rely on you to reflect our core values of Respect, Integrity, Stewardship, Excellence, Collaboration, Kindness and Joy.
