Multnomah University company history timeline

1936

On Valentine’s Day 1936, Doctor John G. Mitchell called a meeting of Portland-area ministers and Christian businessmen.

1943

In 1943, Willard Aldrich became president of the school.

1947

The seminary offered the Graduate Certificate from 1947 to the present, adding the Master of Arts in biblical studies and the Master of Sacred Ministry degrees in the late ‘70s.

1978

In May 1978, Doctor Joseph C. Aldrich was selected by the Board of Trustees as Multnomah’s third president.

Willard served as president up until his retirement in 1978.

1986

The Multnomah Graduate School of Ministry was founded as a related institution in 1986 and was renamed later to Multnomah Biblical Seminary.

1993

In 1993, the college was renamed Multnomah Bible College.

1997

Doctor Joseph Aldrich stepped down from the presidency in May 1997 and the Board of Trustees chose Doctor Daniel R. Lockwood, Dean of the Seminary, to become Multnomah’s fourth president.
