A Day in the Life
PatientAccessRepresentative will greet and direct patients, families to testing and surgical areas in the facility in a courteous and welcoming manner and be highly mobile to assist patients, family and visitors to include transport or arranging transportation as needed.
Registration responsibilities include obtaining/verifying all required patient information to enter into the registration system in an expedient manner. The PatientAccessRepresentative will work positively with all levels of staff in completion of job responsibilities.
Greets patients, family members and other customers in a courteous and welcoming manner. Ask for and provides all information necessary to promote patient understanding of procedures, expectations, and the hospital environment; exchanges all information in a friendly, kind manner. Must possess exceptional people skills.
Exercises a high degree of control over confidential medical information. Keeps offices and work area orderly and properly stocked.
Responsible to access department communications daily utilizing telephone voice mail and/ or e-mail. Expected to make immediate requested changes to current information collection procedures utilizing daily communications. This is often requested before official documentation of changes.
Acts as a preceptor for new hires to provide all levels of education required for that position.
Performs other duties as assigned by the PAS leadership team.

What's Required
Associate's degree or 2 years formal education or equivalent experience.
Two (2) years' work experience in customer service, healthcare or business-related field.

A Day in the Life
Provide compassionate, patient-centered care as part of a collaborative nursing team
Maintain and evaluate patient and staff data collection systems and processes to support the practice of nursing and delivery of patient care
Facilitate patient flow on unit as it relates to admissions and discharges
Communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members
Foster and evaluate an environment that empowers and supports staff, including the professional nurse in analysis of assessment data and in decisions to determine relevant diagnoses

Active nursing license in the state of Michigan

PatientAccessRepresentative will greet and direct patients, families to testing and surgical areas in the facility in a courteous and welcoming manner and be highly mobile to assist patients, family and visitors to include transport or arranging transportation as needed.
Registration responsibilities include obtaining/verifying all required patient information to enter into the registration system in an expedient manner. The PatientAccessRepresentative will work positively with all levels of staff in completion of job responsibilities.
Greets patients, family members and other customers in a courteous and welcoming manner. Ask for and provides all information necessary to promote patient understanding of procedures, expectations, and the hospital environment; exchanges all information in a friendly, kind manner. Must possess exceptional people skills.
Exercises a high degree of control over confidential medical information. Keeps offices and work area orderly and properly stocked.
Responsible to access department communications daily utilizing telephone voice mail and/ or e-mail. Expected to make immediate requested changes to current information collection procedures utilizing daily communications. This is often requested before official documentation of changes.
Acts as a preceptor for new hires to provide all levels of education required for that position.
Performs other duties as assigned by the PAS leadership team.
Qualifications

A Day in the Life
The Financial Counselor performs quality assurance for in-house and post discharged accounts by assisting the uninsured and underinsured patients, or the responsible party, in establishing a financial resource for their healthcare needs.
Financial Counselors assist patients in applying for governmental and/or state programs. They are also responsible in assisting individuals with pre-service cost estimates, support in resolving insurance issues, and continuously monitoring various worklists for appropriate follow-up.
Contributes to the team orientation of the Patient Accounts area and, as such, is responsible for proper communication with all department members. Contributes to the team orientation of MMC and, as such, is responsible for proper communication between Patient Accounts, and all other departments.
Handles questions from patients or interested persons concerning insurance, credit, or other problems relating to the hospital. Responsible for data accuracy and input on the financial system. Provide cost estimates for patients anticipating hospitalization for MMC outpatient services, or regular admissions.
Interviews in person or by phone, patients and relatives requesting credit arrangements. Counsels patients on payment options. Helps patients obtain financial assistance through appropriate state or federal agencies.
Obtains and reviews pre-admission information on scheduled outpatients and inpatients. Resolves problems regarding insurance, lack of information, and provide financial advice as required. Accepts deposits, issues receipts, and makes payment arrangements on any unpaid balances. Verifies insurance benefits on problem accounts for all third-party payors.
Follows-up with insurance companies by telephone and letter to obtain payment. Dictates and sends collection letters as required. Handles problem patient correspondence. Makes collection telephone calls. Handles incoming collection calls. Will collect when appropriate. Interviews prospective charity recipients, disseminates applications, and determines eligibility. Follow-up with the Department of Social Services and patients for documentation needed to complete applications.
Qualifications
What's Required
Associate's Degree or two (2) years formal education or equivalent experience required.
Two years' experience in customer service, healthcare, or business-related field.
Knowledge of current third-party payer reimbursement preferred.
Above average oral and written communication skills and the ability to converse well on the telephone and in face-to-face situations is required. Applicant must be warm, friendly and sensitive to the feelings and concerns of others.

Coord Patient Care - Cardiac Care Unit
Part of The Webber Heart Center, the A3 Cardiac Care Unit (CCU) at Munson Medical Center is an acuity adaptable unit providing complex care to high acuity patients across the continuum from critical illness to time of discharge. The CCU is a 30-bed unit specializing in the care of patients with acute and chronic cardiac diagnoses such as STEMI, structural heart disease, post-cardiac arrest, interventional cardiology, advanced heart failure requiring assistive device support, and vascular surgery. Additionally, the unit supports patients with a variety of other medical and surgical diagnoses with multi-system involvement requiring critical and intermediate care modalities.

D6 Inpatient Behavioral Health is a 17-bed unit dedicated to adult patients facing various mental health conditions, including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and depression. This unit boasts a multidisciplinary team comprising psychiatric providers, nurses, clinicians, and behavioral health technicians.

Patient Care Coordinator - C3 (Pediatrics/Women's/Children's Services)
C3 is a 17 bed unit that provides pediatric women's and children's services, plastic and reconstructive surgery and general medicine overflow. C3 accepts Maternity overflow, medical surgical patients undergoing gynecologic procedures, plastic and reconstructive, and mastectomy surgery. Pediatric Intermediate Care provided.
Maintains and evaluates patient and staff data collection systems and processes to support the practice of nursing and delivery of patient care within their defined areas/s of responsibility.
Evaluates assessment practices to assure timely, reliable, valid and comprehensive data collection.
Diagnosis/Problem Identification-Fosters and evaluates an environment that empowers and supports staff, including the professional nurse in analysis of assessment data and in decisions to determine relevant diagnoses.
Identification of Outcomes-Maintains and evaluates processes that promote RBC and desired patient-centered outcomes that are culturally sensitive and inclusive of patient/family needs according to accepted standards of clinical nursing practice.
Promotes the integration of clinical and human resource data to support decision-making, which maximizes resource utilization.
Facilitates and empowers registered nurses to assume accountability for patient outcomes in their area of responsibility.
Planning-Supports organizational and RBC Unit Action Council plans related to the delivery of unit based nursing services and patient care.
Oversees and assists with evaluation of plan of care with the patient, family and other health care providers that prescribe interventions to attain expected outcomes.
Facilitates patient flow on unit as it relates to admissions and discharges. Implementation

Qualifications
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Current license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan.
Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, 2 years in the specialty area preferred.
Actively pursuing a Baccalaureate degree in Nursing required for those hired into the role prior to October 1, 2018.
A BSN is required for those hired into the role after October 1, 2018.
Transition Plan for those currently in the role for meeting Educational Requirements:
* Begin BSN within two years of October 1, 2011
* Complete BSN degree by October 1, 2018
Charge Nurse experience preferred.
