Munson-Williams-Proctor Arts Institute company history timeline

1919

The Munson-Williams-Proctor Institute (incorporated as a school of art in 1919) maintains a museum.

1936

In May 1936, a few months after Maria's death, Munson-Williams-Proctor Institute opened to the public.

1948

The school was granted the authority to confer the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree by the state of New York in 1948.From its inception, the school of art has focused on creating an art program that instills the principles of a strong visual arts foundation.

1995

In 1995 an education wing was constructed to unite the two buildings.

1999

In 1999, Pratt Institute joined forces with Munson-Williams-Proctor Arts Institute (MWPAI) to create PrattMWP College of Art and Design, giving students another option for their art college experience.

2000

The 2000 fall semester brought about the first class to attend PrattMWP.

2018

ComD 2018 is a place where Communications Design students from PrattMWP College of Art and Design will document experimentation and playful learning.
