Probably best known for its Gunsmithing program, Murray State College (MSC) also offers training programs in some of Oklahoma's most viable careers, and in a shortened amount of time. One of only a few nationwide, MSC's Gunsmithing program trains students to become professional gunsmiths. Murray State College also offers training in nature-oriented careers suitable for the Oklahoma job market, such as jobs in Agriculture and Conservation and Wildlife. Other MSC programs leading to high-demand Oklahoma careers include degrees and certificates in Education, Computer Science, Medical Assisting and Physical Therapy Assisting. While many of Murray State College's programs take the standard one and a half to two years to complete, MSC also has a fast-track option. That is, students in certain programs may receive an associate's degree or certificate in as little as 48 weeks. MSC's career placement center helps students to explore career interests and options. They also provide links to online job sites. Financial aid is available at MSC for qualifying students and includes grants, loans and student employment. Additional funding sources include tribal scholarships for Native American Students and scholarships for students with emotional, mental or physical handicaps.
