The Worship Pastor/Minister of Music is responsible for leading the congregation of Mt. Hebron Missionary Baptist Church in Christ-centered, Spirit-led worship that glorifies God and aligns with the mission and values of the church.
The Worship Pastor/Minister of Music assists our Senior Pastor in leading all pastoral, administrative, creative and operational duties for the Worship and Fine Arts ministry. The Pastor of Worship/Minister of Music is a high-capacity leader responsible for overseeing all worship experiences across the church. This individual will pastor and develop worship leaders, musicians, and production teams while ensuring excellence and theological integrity in every worship experience. The ideal candidate is both spiritually grounded and culturally aware, capable of curating worship environments that resonate with Mt. Hebron Missionary Baptist Church. Supervisory Responsibilities:This position is directly responsible for supervising the worship team and band (musicians). Essential Functions:● Plan and lead weekly worship services that are biblically sound and spiritually engaging.● Collaborate with the Senior Pastor to align worship with the sermon themes and church calendar (e.g. Easter, Christmas, Church Anniversary, etc.).● Select music that is theologically rich and reflects the style that is appropriate for the church.● Lead worship vocally and/or instrumentally (if applicable). Administrative Duties:● Manage the worship ministry budget and resources.● Ensure financial integrity through policies, reporting, and stewardship.● Maintain and update song databases, charts, and worship planning software (e.g., Planning Center, etc.).● Coordinate with other ministry leaders for special services and events (e.g., weddings, funerals, youth services, etc.). Church of the Ascension in Johnstown, Ohio is seeking an experienced choir director and organist to assume the role of Director of Sacred Music (DSM). This is a part-time ministry position. Duties include direction and coordination of the adult choir, children's choir, and cantors, as well as serving as the organist for liturgical events and weekly Masses. There are three sung Masses per weekend which the DSM is expected to be the primary organist/director. Maintain the highest standard for liturgical music for all Masses

Train choirs, cantors, and instrumentalists, particularly in the areas of chant and sacred polyphony
Educate the parish in sacred music
Serve as primary organist and director for weekends, obligatory days, and other Masses through the year

Represent and promote school within the University and external community.
Oversee student advising; may advise graduate and undergraduate students.
May oversee internship, scholarship, or grant programs.
May serve as building curator.
Serve on department, division, and University committees.
Perform related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Terminal degree in one of the disciplines of the school; six to seven years relevant experience. Qualifications should be commensurate to be appointed at the rank of associate professor within the school.
Preferred Qualifications: qualifications should be commensurate to be appointed at the rank of full professor within the school.
Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of academic programs; budgeting; personnel matters to include faculty relations and university governance; personal computer applications.
Skill in written and interpersonal communication.
Ability to provide leadership and direction; analyze situations and develop effective solutions.
Applicants holding a doctoral degree are preferred.
The selection process will focus on candidates demonstrating the following attributes: a record of solid musicianship and distinguished research and/or creative activity in at least one field of music specialization; sensitivity to and support for a broad spectrum of musical disciplines; successful college-level administrative experience; strong communication and consensus building skills; ability to use consensus to build a vision and achieve goals; success in seeking and promoting productive partnerships and collaborations; experience with fund-raising and advancement; the perspective needed to create, facilitate and implement curricula to enhance the quality of all degree programs and student success.
