Position Overview
Under the direct supervision of the Pharmacy Director and in collaboration with the Medical Director and CEO, dispense appropriate prescriptions to patients ensuring accuracy while maintaining the overall flow of the pharmacy functions and overseeing of the pharmacy technicians.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Dispense medication(s) written by providers within the organization to patients, the appropriate medication(s) prescribed, assuring their awareness of the reason for their prescription, how to take the prescription, and common side effects of the medication.
Review patient prescription profiles by accessing the electronic health record to prevent drug/drug interactions and drug/allergy interactions.
Oversee the work of pharmacy technicians, making certain that prescriptions are filled in a timely manner, patients are charged correctly, and that the drug inventory remains adequate for sustaining the pharmacy.
Maintain a drug formulary that allows practitioners to provide appropriate drug therapy while properly utilizing resources of both the patient and his/her third party.
Consult physicians, mid-level practitioners, and nurses on drug therapy, giving recommendations based on primary literature and practice guidelines as well as patient variables and provide assistance with drug cost as well as specific drug regimens
Assist with the development of a medication therapy management program and meet one on one with patients to provide medication therapy management services to improve patient outcomes.
Assist with the development of procedures as part of a Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, Quality Improvement Committee and Medication Assisted Treatment Committee.
Maintains a courteous, helpful and conscientious attitude in dealing with co-workers and patients and their families, always ensuring professionalism and confidentiality.
Regular and prompt attendance at work.
All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Muskegon Family Care 2201 S. Getty St. Muskegon, MI 49444 FULL-TIME EMPLOYMENT MONDAY-FRIDAY 9:45 am-6:15 pm with a rotating late shift on THURSDAY (10:45 am-7:15 pm) and a rotating SATURDAY (9am-12pm) Muskegon Family Care is looking for a FULL-TIME Pharmacy Technician to join our Supportive & Collaborative Team. Position Overview
Under the direct supervision of the Pharmacy Business Manager and in collaboration with the Director of Pharmacy, Pharmacy Technician assists Pharmacists in filling and labeling patient's prescriptions, updating patient personal and insurance information and ensuring accuracy in the prescription filling process.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Enter prescription orders into QS1 accurately and efficiently.
Creates and updates patients' personal profiles in EHR including patient demographics, allergy information, and insurance information.
Counts 25 prescriptions per hour accurately and efficiently.
Ensures that the patient receives correct prescriptions.
Answer the phone in a timely manner.
Assists Pharmacists with filling and labeling prescriptions.
Communicate with providers and their staff to obtain refill authorization.
Knowledge of common medication brands and generic names, doses, and indication to patients and staff.
Collect cash and/ or credit for payment of prescriptions
Understanding of medical terminology
Ability to respect confidentiality and patient data
Maintains a courteous, helpful and conscientious attitude in dealing with co-workers and patients and their families, always ensuring professionalism and confidentiality.
Keeps the work area neat and clean.
Regular and prompt attendance at work.
All other duties as assigned.

Educations and Licensure
High School Diploma or GED (Required).
State of Michigan Pharmacy Technician License (Required).
Three to six months' related experience and/or training preferred.
Computer and Medical Terminology experience preferred.
