Responsibilities MV Transportation is seeking a Director of Liability Claims to mitigate the organization's exposure to risk by formulating, developing, and coordinating all claims-related activities, as well as resolving claims through various mitigation techniques. Direct the TPA to ensure the proper and efficient handling of claims, gathering data on claims for both record keeping and loss forecasting purposes, and estimating the financial value of claims. This role will focus on the operational effectiveness of claims management strategies. Work with the risk management team to develop the claim program policies, and procedures for: reporting, investigation, and analysis; litigation management; resolution/outcome management; and the delivery of claim information. Responsibilities include: Liability Incident Reporting Evaluation Coordinate with operations on accident reporting, video review and follow up investigation Manage escalation of Critical Incident Reports Coordinate with Safety on data collection Reporting of claims to insurers when appropriate TPA Management Conduct regular claim reviews Establish KPI's for the TPA and report monthly on progress Maintain watchlist of serious incidents and monitor for development Reserve/settlement authority within defined level Recommend litigation avoidance strategies Executive Team Support Provide MV's Executive Team with reports capturing claim trends Present high exposure claims to MV's Executive Team for strategic planning Analyze claims data to assist with pricing models Liability Litigation Management Participate in litigation strategy calls Review and ensure litigation plans are updated regularly by defense counsel Assist with small claim suits when venue does not allow attorney involvement Coordinating distribution of litigation service papers Subpoena research Discus files with excess carriers as necessary Discovery request coordination as necessary Liability Defense Firm / Claim Vendor Relationship Management Develop and maintain relationships with liability defense firms and vendors to ensure MV's strategies are being represented and executed Negotiate liability defense firm and vendor rates for services Negotiate and maintain contracts with liability claim vendors Qualifications Talent Requirements: 10+ years' experience with complex liability claims and or litigation at a TPA or risk management department Current liability adjusters license preferred Bachelor's Degree, Assoiate in Claims (AIC), Associate in Risk Management (ARM) or other claims, risk, or legal certifications preferred MV Transportation is committed to a policy of Equal Employment Opportunity and will not discriminate against an applicant or employee on the basis of race, color, religion, creed, national origin or ancestry, sex, physical or mental disability, veteran or military status, genetic information or any other legally recognized protected basis under federal, state or local laws, regulations or ordinances.
