Nature of Work The Preconstruction Manager plans, coordinates and supervises estimating functions for projects within assigned geographic or vertical markets. This role is responsible for ensuring timely and accurate service execution, and managing risks associated with project pursuits. Essential Functions and Responsibilities * Properly manage estimating team on projects to ensure timely delivery while implementing quality control measures to ensure accuracy. * Oversee preconstruction efforts on managed projects; directs the efforts of the design team on design-build projects. * Responsible for training and development of direct reports. * Responsible for performing cost and risk analysis on team's projects. Presents analysis and finds a balanced approach to risk and reward. Promote these skills in direct reports and other team members. * Actively seeks to identify and resolve conflict within the team. * Assists in the development and refinement of departmental processes. Supports consistency across departments by adhering to best practices and established policies and procedures. * Lead presentations to clients. Conduct internal presentation of projects, and project handoffs. * Manage and lead project handoff meetings. Actively participate in the 360 review process. Ensure that action items are properly addressed and lessons learned are captured. * Supports business development program through championing relationships with clients as assigned and in conjunction with the business development plan. * Update and manage the opportunity pipeline in CRM software. Stay in tune with industry news and market trends. Utilize professional network and actively look for project opportunities. Submit project opportunities through the established opportunity assessment program. In addition to the above responsibilities, this position will be responsible for the following: * Exhibits high level of performance for all estimating and preconstruction administrative and technical skills. * Subject matter expert for vertical and/or geographic market. * Highly effective communicator- strategic in formulating and delivering messaging to achieve objectives. * Presents information professionally, and in confident and persuasive manner to support department goals. * Routinely analyzes and solves complex tasks and problems to provide solutions to their teams, company, and clients. * Presents project risk analysis along with balanced approach to risk and reward. * Demonstrates sound team level leadership with 2-4 direct reports. * Adaptability - Demonstrates flexibility while working effectively in ambiguous and evolving situations. * Attention to Detail - Ability to complete highly complex and technical tasks, maintaining accuracy by installing processes for the team. * Managing Conflict - Ability to maintain teamwork while facilitating conflict resolution. Qualifications * 12+ years of relevant work experience. * 6+ years of preferred experience in the light industrial market and design-build delivery. * 1+ years of management experience. * Experience with estimating light industrial construction projects. * Must have proven experience leading design-build projects and managing coordination of the design team. Education * A minimum of a bachelor's degree from a four-year college, university, or equivalent experience. Physical * Physical demands for this position are moderate. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be walking, standing, bending or lifting moderately heavy (25-50 pounds) items.
