Dental Hygienist: Key Responsibilities Conduct oral health assessments, inclusive of oral cancer and other periodontal diseases. Perform thorough dental cleanings to remove plaque, tartar and stains from teeth. Take, develop and review dental x-rays. Apply preventive materials such as sealants and fluoride. Assist the dentist with patient examinations and conduct follow-up treatment as directed. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and overall dental health. Document patient dental history and maintain accurate patient records and treatment notes. Adhere to all infection control protocols and OSHA guidelines.
