Essential Functions
* Construction monitoring tasks including interpretation of applicable construction drawings
* Assist with the review of plans and specifications and prepare a checklist of contract features which require periodic attention and list items the sub-contractor must submit for approval prior to the start of the work
* Assist with cost estimates as needed
* Ensure maintenance of accurate records
* Assist with preparing statements of work, submittals, change management, and necessary daily and weekly reporting
* Participation in the Lunch & Learn internship program provided by the MYR Group Internship Leadership team.
* Prior to the end of their internship, the intern will create and present a self-reflection project detailing their gained industry knowledge, future career goals, as well as personal and professional growth. The presentation will be provided in PowerPoint and presented to their direct management team.

The Tepa Companies are seeking a Welding Apprentice who will Perform welding tasks under supervision on piping and plate within petroleum operations facilities. In addition to welding, the successful candidate must be able to assist in tasks related to welding such as fit‐up, preparation, repair, inspection, and post weld preparation. Welder - Structural This person must be able to join steel components or metal plates using blueprints, work orders, welding procedures or oral instructions through the application of heat or electric arc-welding equipment. Other duties may be assigned.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Uses Gas-Metal Arc, Flux-Cored Arc, Gas-Tungsten Arc, Submerged Arc or Shielded Metal Arc welding processes.
+ Unites pipes from torch to tanks of oxygen and fuel gas and turns valves to release mixture.
+ Reaching expected temperature, size, and color of flame by burning torch and adjusting flow of gas and air.
+ Preheats work pieces for the preparation of welding or curving, using torch.
+ Fills holes or corrects mistakes in lead pieces and makes bulges thin and curves in metal work pieces.
+ manually apply filler rod to supply weld metal. May clean or degrease weld joint or workplace, using wire brush, portable grinder, or chemical bath.
+ remove excess weld, defective weld material, slag and spatter, using carbon arc gouge, hand scrapper, grinder or power chipper.
+ Climbs up ladders or works on scaffolds to take apart textures.
+ In order to protect the torch chooses place of weld based on type, thickness, area, and expected temperature of metal.
+ Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required for this Position:
**Education** - no minimum education requirements.
**Experience** - 2-4 years of Journeyman level experience.

Our Interns report to the Project Manager or Assistant PM, Pre-construction, or Estimating Managers and perform duties to assist in learning the process of managing the construction of the project. Interns work in conjunction with other Field Staff to ensure mutual project and personal development goals are being met. Duties may include the following, depending on education and skill level, as well as the status/timing of the project.
Please note that this position takes place in multiple regions, San Diego, Riverside, Orange County and Imperial.
Key Responsibilities
Assist team with General Contract and Subcontract administration
Learn about Quality Control programs and how to coordinate actions to address problems
Control of documents including but not limited to RFI postings and contract documents
Distribute information required for construction to appropriate parties
Work with the projects PE(s), SPE(s), and APM(s) to compile contract close-out documents (O&M manuals, As-Builts, etc.)
Assist in preparation of a contract items list
Research and suggest options on construction means, methods, and equipment
Perform other duties as required or assigned
Qualifications
Current student (preferably sophomore or higher) working towards a Bachelor's degree, in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related field.
A strong desire to learn and develop new skills
Strong sense of Teamwork
Success managing multiple, competing priorities in a deadline driven environment
Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
