Document and communicate inspection results. Identify and recommend solutions for non-conforming items and nonconformance of QA/QC policies and procedures. Follow-through to ensure nonconformances are resolved. Disseminate written policies and procedures related to compliance activities. Interpret specifications and clarify procedural issues for workers. Verify that all contractual and regulatory policies and procedures have been documented, implemented, and communicated for the project, and as directed by QA/QC Manager or Supervisor. Assess product for compliance to specifications and procedures. Assist with the development of risk management strategies. Contribute to suggestions for improvements in communication and monitoring. Maintain daily logs of project quality and surveillances. Support logged information with photographs/videos - photographing must be in accordance with client's privacy policies. File appropriate and timely inspection and compliance reports. Digital Building Components, as part of the DPR Families of Companies is looking for an experienced Quality Control Inspector. Quality Control Inspectors are expected to visually inspect all products going through the factory within their assigned areas. This position is expected to be carried out in a professional, courteous, and non-biased manner, with a “Team” approach. The Quality Control Inspector is also required to create, process, and “upload” documents into the company's database pertaining to all quality processes (which include hard copies if necessary, the use of computers, I pad's, etc. The Quality Control Inspector is expected to inspect product (including components and subcomponents) visually and with the use of aids, including gauges, tape measures, a variety of inspection tools, etc. and finalize/provide a pass/fail outcome on all work. Inspectors are not “production” personnel, and therefore have a separate reporting structure from production and shall not perform any production-related work. Duties and Responsibilities: Work with the quality manager to identify quality issues and help ensure the highest quality product Work professionally with area leads, production personnel, weld technicians (including robots), and “others” to report, address, and document quality issues and concerns. Document and track all quality inspections using electronic reporting app, paper documents, and any other DBC assigned method(s). Read and understand production details and spool sheets Help create and implement the proper quality check(s) utilizing tools Attend any training that aids in job functions (roles and responsibilities) Manage and maintain document creation, flow, distribution, and uploading (which may include digital and hard copies). Aid in training new and existing employees Meet quality inspection requirements to assist in production flow Document review, control and improvement Aid in designing efficient details and design improvements Create a positive, respectful, and productive team atmosphere Participate in leadership training and functions Maintain and provide a clean and organized work environment Dress appropriately for the work performed (and meeting all company safety requirements). Crosstrain and assist Quality Control Inspectors in various areas (including the Finish Shop). Actively promote a safe working environment (as applicable) throughout the entire factory Able to use and read measuring tape, micrometers, calipers, multimeter, and other measuring devices in the performance of their duties. Able to operate electronic devices such as iPhone, iPad, and capable to use Microsoft suite products such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook programs, etc. Education and Experience: Strong attention to detail and the ability to read blueprints. 2 to 5 years' experience in QC/QA in a manufacturing or construction environment. Experience with Microsoft Office products to create reports and record data. Ability to work with and assist others to maximize system effectiveness and efficiency. Ability to build positive and effective relationships with co-workers. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrates a commitment to a safety- first environment. Ability to read various gauges accurately (i.e. tape measurer, calipers and indicators). Ability to work overtime to meet production schedules to include weekend as needed. Required knowledge on tile installation/process and its products since the role is conducting daily inspection of that process within production. Physical Requirements: This job involves: walking and/or standing for up to 10 hrs. per day, bending, climbing, lifting and stretching. It requires the use of hands and fingers to hold, grasp push and lift items. Lifting requirements up to 40 lbs. Dust, noise and heat are common working conditions. Quality Control Inspector Qualifications: * High School education or the equivalent is required. * Minimum of two years' experience in construction industry and/or welding. * Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) may be required. Structural Inspection: Experience level must fall within the erection of structural steel. Must be able to work in elevated areas. Must have knowledge of AISC, AWS D1.1, and AWS D1.6 Codes. Must have knowledge of bolt up inspection including bolt lot verifications using Skidmore-Wilhelm. Additionally, must have knowledge of architectural, insulation and lagging, grout and concrete placement, Epoxy anchor installation inspection. Must have CWI (Certified Welding Inspector) certification. Electrical and Instrumentation Inspection: Experience must fall in the installation of electrical and instrumentation components, including interconnecting wiring, cables, and tubing. Must be knowledgeable of ICEA, IEEE, ISA, NEC, NEMA, NESC, and NFPA Codes and standards. Mechanical Inspection: Experience level must fall in the setting and alignment of static and rotating equipment, equipment skids, coolers, tanks, and interconnecting process piping fabrication and installation. Must be able to use measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, transits, etc. and be able to set up dial indicators and laser alignment devices. Piping Inspection: Experience level must fall in pipe installation inspection, including welding, supports, instrumentation, etc. Must have CWI (Certified Welding Inspector) certification. Key Responsibilities 1. Assists material handling personnel with required material storage and PM requirements as needed. 2. Communicates with others regarding inspections results and recommends corrective procedures. 3. Participates in activities to support the company's strategic planning efforts. 4. Participates in the preparation of Quality control ITP. 5. Performs control measuring and tests equipment. 6. Verifies the installation of the systems, components and equipment in accordance with the assigned discipline. Overview Owen Steel Company is currently recruiting a Quality Control Inspector with 3-5 years of experience in a structural steel fabrication environment. Safety is always first, applicants must be able to work safely and professionally. In this role, a successful applicant will have a strong understanding of welding, fabrication, quality control, and NDE weld inspection methods including VT, UT, and MT. Experience in UT and MT is a plus, but not required. Primary Responsibilities Conduct material verification, fit-up inspections, and final inspections. Read and interpret fabrication drawings for fit-up and final fabrication verification and documentation. Interface effectively with customer QC representatives. Complete reports for all testing and inspections performed. Qualifications and Requirements 3-5 years of experience in a structural steel fabrication environment. AWS Certified Welding Inspector Certification Familiarity with FCAW and SAW welding processes. Proficiency in reading fabrication drawings. Understanding of fabrication codes (AWS D1.1 preferred). Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with team members and customer QC representatives. Ability to work safely and professionally. Schedule and Location The standard schedule is 10-hour days Monday through Thursday and an 8-hour day on Friday. (Additional overtime may be required based off production needs.) QUALITY CONTROL INSPECTOR Quality Inspectors are responsible for monitoring and evaluating internal production processes, examining products to determine their quality and engaging with employees and management and gathering product feedback, among other duties. Job Duties: * Monitor operations to ensure they meet quality and production standards * Ensure product and manufacturing lines perform effectively * Inspect, test, or measure all materials and products being produced * Check all incoming products and materials to ensure accuracy * Keep accurate documentation * Assist shop foreman and supervisor in day to day production as needed • The above list of duties is not to be construed as an exhaustive list.
