Jim McLane, who founded the company in 1989 and is now chairman of the board, was a chief pharmacist at Cooper Green Mercy, then the Jefferson County-owned hospital for the poor on Sixth Avenue South.
McLane’s son, Brad, joined the company in 2016 and has been CEO since January.
Centurion has held the Arizona contract since 2019, after beating out the former correctional health care provider Corizon, which is now known as YesCare.
Centurion’s contract was renewed in 2021 for 15 months, for a total cost of more than $216 million.
