Stuart Frankel founded the company with Kris Hammond and Larry Birnbaum. Prior to Narrative Science, Stuart was President of the Performics division of DoubleClick and was a member of DoubleClick's senior management team when the company was sold to Google. A lawyer and a CPA, Stuart earned a BS from Miami University and a JD from Vanderbilt.

I am currently Chief Scientist at Narrative Science, a company focused on automated narrative generation from data. I am also a professor of Computer Science and Journalism at Northwestern University and a researcher in the areas of human-machine interaction, context-driven information systems and artificial intelligence. In 1999, I founded Northwestern University's Intelligent Information Laboratory (InfoLab). At the InfoLab, my team is creating technology that bridges the gap between people and the information they need. From 2000 to 2001, I also enjoyed a run as the weekly technology correspondent for WTTW's Chicago Tomorrow.

Dr. Larry Birnbaum is a professor of Computer Science at Northwestern University. Larry received his PhD in computer science from Yale University in 1986, and joined the Northwestern faculty in 1989. His research in artificial intelligence and computer science has encompassed natural language processing, case-based reasoning, machine learning, human-computer interaction, educational software, and computer vision. Birnbaum has authored or coauthored more than eighty articles. He was the program co-chair of the 1991 International Machine Learning Workshop and has been a member of the program committee for numerous other conferences and workshops.

Mauro is a student DePaul University starting in 2018 and is based in Chicago, Illinois. He is a Chief Product Officer at Narrative Science and Vice President at Narrative Science. Mauro has worked as Infantry Officer at Marine Corps Recruiting; Engagement Manager at McKinsey & Company; and Director, Board of Directors at The Bunker. He works or has worked as Board Member at Bunker Labs. Mauro attended Georgetown University between 2000 and 2004, University of Cambridge between 2002 and 2002, and KELLOGG SCHOOL OF MANAGEMENT between 2009 and 2011.

Nick oversees the entire customer experience including sales, account management, editorial and client deployment. From 2008 to 2011, Nick was President of the VivaKi Nerve Center, a division of Publicis Groupe. Prior to his role at VivaKi, Nick served in numerous roles at the Perfomics division of Doubleclick and ultimately held the position of CEO. Nick earned his B.S. in Finance from the University of Missouri.

Adam is currently CIO at OpTier. Throughout his career Adam has served as an advisor to large Fortune 500 companies, particularly in retail, banking and insurance, on their IT initiatives. Most recently he has led the initiative to move OpTier into the Big Data Analytics market. Prior to joining OpTier, Adam spent over 13 years driving client-centric solutions at Accenture, capped off with his last role as a Senior Executive leading the Performance Engineering group in North America. Adam has specialized in large-scale performance test management as well as helping clients transform their performance engineering processes and organization. Prior to his involvement with Performance Engineering, Adam worked in several systems delivery roles from developer, to application architect, to project management.
