What You'll Do
As an Optometrist, you will:
Provide comprehensive eye exams and optometric care
Diagnose and manage eye conditions and visual disorders
Conduct routine testing such as visual field assessments and diagnostic imaging
Review detailed patient medical histories, including medications and previous treatments
Prescribe corrective lenses, optical devices, and treatment plans as needed
Refer patients to ophthalmology or other specialists when appropriate
Educate patients on eye care, hygiene, lens use, and preventive strategies
Evaluate symptoms such as dryness, redness, inflammation, discharge, or visual changes
Identify safety hazards impacting vision (screen exposure, environmental factors, chemical exposure, etc.)
Supervise optometry students or trainees when assigned
Participate in peer review, case collaboration, and clinical meetings
Support quality improvement initiatives and compliance programs
Follow infection control protocols and ensure support staff compliance
Assist with public outreach and community education events
Meet or exceed UDS productivity standards
Participate in safety programs and emergency response procedures
