    Assists Lead Counselor to ensure children have structured activities planned and that activities are age and ability appropriate. Assists in being responsible for the well being and safety of the children. We currently offer two Saturday recreation programs - one with a focus on recreation and the other with a focus on social skills for children with autism. All programs include a wide range of skill enhancement through music, arts and crafts, cooking, movement dance and indoor and outdoor play. Swimming in the outdoor pool is available during the summer months. Responsibilities Responsible for the organization of assigned group Must participate in swim activities Ensures assigned group attends all special area scheduled activities Brings children to Nurses office for medication at required time Maintain behavior management in homeroom and special areas Maintain safe environment for the children and account for their whereabouts at all times Create homeroom activities in the event of special area cancellation and/or when no special activity is scheduled Maintain open dialogue with parents, offering support and encouragement Ensure that each child participates in an enjoyable and appropriate experience throughout the day Reports all incidents to the Nurse and Program Coordinator or designee Performs additional related responsibilities as requested by supervisor. Cultural Competencies Demonstrate the ability to communicate and effectively interact with people across cultures, ranges of disability, genders, ethnicity and races. Demonstrate the ability to recognize and manage personal behaviors to create an inclusive, equitable and welcoming environment. Demonstrate the ability to successfully deliver culturally responsive services to students and families. Ensure that work-related safety procedures are in place and are being adhered to by staff. Observance of an unsafe act or a potentially hazardous work environment must be immediately reported to supervisor and/or safety committee. Qualifications High School Diploma or Equivalent required. Prior experience working with children with developmental disabilities. Physical aspects may include but are not limited to lifting and transferring of a child/adult.

Responsibilities Primary duties and responsibilites include but not limited to: Ensures all activities of daily living are supported and performed.; This includes, but is not limited to personal hygiene tasks such as bathing/showering, tooth brushing, assistance in the bathroom/adult diaper care/menses care (if applicable).; This also includes responsibilities such as dressing, meals (feeding), shopping, housekeeping, and laundry skills Provides companionship, supervision, role modeling and instruction while ensuring freedom from any hazards in both the home and community settings Documents implementation of services and progress (or lack of progress) by the individual in the Medisked system within 24 hours of service provision Support the individual in becoming as independent as possible in both their homes and in their immediate community Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Get in on the ground floor and train for an entry level career in the healthcare/education field! In this position, you will: Help program participants achieve/exceed their personal goals; Provide structure and emotional support; Assist in resolving behavioral issues; Help people supported with personal hygiene; Complete detailed, accurate documentation Transport the people supported to and from volunteer and pre-vocational activities using Agency vehicles. We require: Clean, valid NYS Driver's license High School diploma or equivalent Some experience working with the intellectually and developmentally disabled population preferred; but will train. Complete within 6 months of hire and maintain required trainings in AMAP (Approved Medication Administration Personnel) and SCIP (Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention). The ability to assist with lifting and transferring an adult person. Prior experience as Caregiver, Care Assistant, Personal Assistant, Resident Assistant, Direct Care Worker, Nursing Assistant, Home Care Aide or Companion is a plus. Schedule: Mon-Fri 8:30a-4:30p Salary Range: 17.00 - 18.00 Some programs/locations may have a differential in addition to the hourly rate.
