We are seeking a Prepress Production Artist - Apparel with
color separation experience
for our exciting promotional products division in our Ronkonkoma, NY office. Must be able to successfully complete projects and thrive in a very fast-paced, time-line driven environment.
The Prepress Production Artist will be responsible for:
Receiving customer artwork for modification and reproduction in a manufacturing environment
Coordinating with Order Entry and Customer Service to ensure customer approval.
Ensuring the highest level of quality of products
Expediting/ setting up customer orders; will spend time liaising with all departments in Production/ Factory
Sending artwork proofs to customers
Supporting factory staff supply needs ie: wrappers, labels
Administrative duties as needed (Virtuals, uploading repeats, etc.)
Key Responsibilities:
Perform color separations for screen printing, digital printing, and other print production processes.
Ensure accurate color matching and consistency across different substrates.
Use Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or other industry-standard software for high-quality separations.
Prepare and optimize artwork for halftones, spot colors, CMYK, simulated process, and index separations based on print specifications.
Work closely with designers, production teams, and clients to ensure print-ready files meet expectations.
Troubleshoot artwork issues, including resolution, trapping, and registration concerns.
Maintain an organized file system for efficient retrieval of past projects.
Qualifications & Skills:
Proven experience as a Color Separation Artist or in a related prepress role.
Strong knowledge of color theory, ink properties, and printing techniques.
Expertise in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, (or similar software).
Understanding of screen-printing mesh counts, dot gain, and press setups.
Excellent attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with teams effectively.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in a screen-printing environment.
Knowledge of DTG (Direct-to-Garment) and digital print preparation.

At least 2 - 3 years of experience using InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Excel in a Production Artist role.
Experience printing on a variety of packaging including bags, tins, labels, etc.
Experience with retail packaging
Solid understanding of the Pantone Color Matching System.
Knowledge of digital, flexographic, pad printing.
Bachelor's Degree preferred.

Job requirements
Education/Certifications:
