Job Description The Sanding and Robot Operator - 3rd Shift position sets up, operates and maintains multiple robotic sanding cells as trained and instructed to meet or exceed defined production targets. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties as assigned) Operates multiple robotic sanding cells with the loading and unloading of helmets to maximize robot time sanding while also ensuring quality. Identify helmet models to be sanded and correctly set the machine fixturing to ensure quality sanding. Load and unload helmets from the fixturing proplerly. Organize and maintain the machine fixturing so that they can be easily found as needed. Operate the computer controls of each cell to select the proper program for the paint color being sanded. Load the robot sanding tool as needed with the proper sand paper grit per the program running. Change the interface pads and backup pads on each cell running as needed to maintain quality sanding. Identify and communicate issues quickly to the GrayMatter Team using the Hot Line and the Team Viewer communication tool. Communicate issues immediately to Team Leader and Supervisor. Observes all safety rules and regulations. Exercises care and good judgment at all times to prevent accidents and injuries. The Production Mechanic I is responsible for Preventive Maintenance (PM) and maintenance of production equipment. This role is to troubleshoot issues, repair failures of production and processing equipment and ensure maximum equipment efficiency, effectiveness, and reliability. The Production Mechanic II is responsible for Preventive Maintenance (PM) and maintenance of production equipment. This role is to troubleshoot issues, repair failures of production and processing equipment and ensure maximum equipment efficiency, effectiveness, and reliability. Responsibilities and Essential Duties Maintains and repairs industrial production and processing machinery. Repairs, installs, and adjusts industrial machinery such as unscramblers, fillers, cappers, labelers, bundlers, heat tunnels, pulverizers, blenders, powder presses, conveyors, lasers, ink printers, labelers, cartoners and other production equipment. Troubleshoots and repairs pneumatic switches, valves, and cylinders. Assists in the diagnosis and repair of gear boxes, bearings, and conveyor system problems. Optimizes line layout to reduce labor and increase line output. Engineers ergonomic work stations to reduce potential for employee repetitive motion injury. Performs routine preventive maintenance. Installs and connects air, electrical, and required energy sources for new production line installation and relocation. Responds to work order requests in a timely fashion. Adheres to all safety policies and procedures including, but not limited to, Lock Out/Tag Out/Try Out (LOTOTO) (ensuring machinery is off before performing maintenance or repair), hot work, confined spaces work, use of powered industrial machines, etc. Sets up, diagnoses, and repairs high speed filling machines. Trouble shoots electrical (relay logic PLCs), general building electrical systems, and mechanical systems. Qualifications Technical Skills Required Proficiency in industrial safety policies, risk reduction, OSHA and potential stored energy risks involved when working with equipment. Proficient mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Ability to read, understand and collaborate on building/system drawings. Attention to detail, accuracy, and precision, as well as good problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and as a team. Proficient controls/integration troubleshooting and routine maintenance skills. Proficiency in welding and machine shop work. Proficiency operating industrial lift trucks and scissor/boom lifts. Electrical troubleshooting proficiency. Proficiency using industrial tools and equipment. Spanish is a plus but not required. Experience Required High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 3 years of industrial maintenance experience. Minimum of 3 years of experience diagnostic/troubleshooting and preventive maintenance. 2 years of electrical experience in troubleshooting and programming of PLCs, knowledge of electrical controls, VFDs, servos, HMIs, and the ability to read electrical prints. Physical Requirements Regularly sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time. Ability to sit, balance, climb, stand, bend, squat, squeeze, kneel, turn, crouch and stoop repeatedly. Physically able to lift 75 pounds and manipulate up to a 500-pound drum on a regular basis.
