Stephen Powell is the President of the New York City-based, PQ Concepts Sports and Entertainment Consulting. Stephen was born and raised in Newark and East Orange, NJ respectively. Prior to founding PQ Concepts in 2005, Stephen worked in program development, management, and special event support for local and national non-profits such as Family and Child Services of Washington, DC, VSA arts/Kennedy Center, the Anthony Bowen YMCA, Youth for Understanding, the Metropolitan DC Police Boys and Girls Club, and the Harlem Educational Activities Fund. He also spent 10 years touring the U.S., Africa, Europe, and South America doing performances, workshops, and artist residencies through a percussive-based dance troupe/step team (Step Afrika) developed through his college fraternity Alpha Phi Alpha at Howard University. Stephen has a special passion for procuring celebrities and athletes to support charitable causes for young adults in US and the Caribbean. This passion led to him to become the Founder of PQ Concepts Sports and Entertainment Consulting LLC. As the Executive Director of Mentoring USA, Stephen lead program expansion, fund development, and technical assistance efforts in Los Angeles, CA, Newark, NJ, Houston, TX, and Las Vegas, NV. He is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Kappa Xi Lambda Graduate Chapter; the Chair of the USTA Eastern Diversity and Inclusion Committee; and is an alumnus of Columbia University Graduate Business School's Institute for Not-for-Profit Management. He is also a founding Board Member of Harlem Serves and an advisory board member to the NYC Young Men's Initiative (YMI).
