Last five years Mr. Rivas has been President of Agroforsa, SRL. He has over 35 years working on international development, designing, implementing and evaluating projects and programs related to sustainable productive rural development, environmental and natural resources management (including protected areas and biodiversity project management), climate change adapt, plan and response; institutional capacity building of government agencies and NGOs. Also, has experience on grant management programs, participatory local planning and targeted strategic communication initiatives aimed at increasing public awareness and influencing decision makers. Experience as project COP (Project Director) with strong skills in: project planning, implementation and budgeting; supervision of professional and technical staff; oversight of subcontracting and grants; financial management and internal control; monitoring and evaluation; and reporting and production of periodical reports. He brings wide geographic experience throughout Latin America (Argentina, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala and the USA). All of the assignments, has represented new challenges driving his capacity and experience, working with multi-stakeholders and facilitating organisational networking and the promotion of horizontal collaborations, technical assistance and experience exchanges between partners, on a local, national and multinational dimensions.
