• Develop, counsel and support external communication team members, advising on content strategies and partnership PR needs.
• Lead team's oversight of agencies and vendors to drive public relations deliverables via counsel and execution; oversee related budget and reporting.
• Provide counsel for scaling and localizing public relations activities for successful implementation within a federated model in coordination with the brand team.
• Leverage data and insights to inform plan and activities.
Content Marketing
• Provide strategic direction and editorial guidance for content and messaging on channels including web, social, video and email marketing.
• Manage and partner with lead content strategist and content strategy for the organization - enterprise wide.
• Lead and manage teams cross functionally to develop new, engaging content across all mediums, ensuring that messaging is valued, relevant, concise, visually compelling and channel-friendly.
• Continually enhance standards, systems and best practices for content creation, distribution, and measurement for continual improvement.
• Leverage available research to develop content that engages key audiences and leads to overarching metrics.
• Redefine our measurement framework to report on the effectiveness of content and optimize content accordingly.
Partnerships
• Responsible for overseeing public relations team's execution of efforts related to corporate partnerships, sponsorships and strategic alliances that advance brand leadership.
• Serve as senior public relations advisor, as needed supporting Manager of PR on corporate partnerships.
• Provide public relations-related support for fundraising new business efforts for current and new corporate partnerships.
Leadership
• Consistently demonstrate advanced leadership skills to lead marketing efforts that may include highly visible activities, top executives, complex subject matter, sensitive topics, etc.
• Demonstrate a high-level of expertise & strong commitment to professionalism, ethical behavior and decision-making
• Provide direct supervision and development for direct reports both full-time and contractors including but not limited to Manager of Public Relations, Director of Content Strategy, PR firms, etc.
• Serve as in-house subject matter expert on external communications and public relations, including leadership role on cross-functional teams.
• Provide expert counsel and guidance to internal and external stakeholders on communication strategy and planning.
• Oversee delivery of communications/public relations reporting for internal and external stakeholders.
• Stay current on data, trends, competitive landscape and best practices related to public relations and youth development.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• Advise Marketing & Communications leadership on all matters relating to internal communication strategies and issues impacting the department.
• Hire, train, supervise, evaluate and develop assigned staff according to BGCA's policies and procedures, consulting Human Resources staff as indicated.
• Perform special projects as assigned by the VP or SVP of Marketing & Communications.
• Demonstrate BGCA mission-driven values of integrity, collaboration, accountability, respect, excellence and inclusion.
• Adhere to organizational policies and procedures as described in BGCA's Employee Handbook, Ethics Policy and elsewhere.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• A Bachelor's degree is required, graduate degree or continuing education a plus.
• 10+ years of PR, media and communications experience.
• Agency experience a plus.
• Experience leading a team.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to edit/proof for content and context.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams, external stakeholders and agency partners.
• Ability to influence and counsel senior management.
• Ability to solicit feedback and build consensus.
• Strong organization skills, ability to multitask and prioritize; attention to detail.
• Ability to execute and make leadership decisions.
• Ability to build and cultivate strong interpersonal relationships and trust.
ABILITIES
• Physical requirements include sight, hearing, sitting for six to eight hours per day and other physical requirements required to perform the essential functions in this position. High energy level, comfortable performing multi-faceted projects in conjunction with day-to day activities, good reasoning abilities, sound judgment and the ability to work under tight deadlines.
ENVIRONMENTAL & WORKING CONDITIONS
• Normal Office Environment
• Travel estimated at 10-20% required (including weekends - depending upon scheduling requirements).
• Hybrid office environment, ability to work up to two days from home a week.
