The pay is great, especially if you work any available overtime. Co-workers are great !!
The hostility from management towards union members has become incredibly vicious. The most loyal and experienced workers are retiring at the first opportunity or looking for work elsewhere. Between the micromanagement and paperwork designed to trip you up and freeze you up with confusion and paranoia, to the camera and microphone surveillance everywhere, including directly in your face from under the rear view mirror in union operated vehicles, it’s very unnerving. My friends in management have been forced out and replaced with recent college graduates who work at half the rate as the experienced managers. The new guys are relying solely on the experienced union guys to teach and guide them, counting on their loyalty and dedication to safety to complete jobs properly. That is my honest opinion and experience here after twenty years of solid, honest, conscientious work. My record is unblemished and I have no other motive in mind except to give you the absolute truth of my experience here in the Boston area gas operations department.
