Operates and rides hydraulic lift and secures riders' wheelchairs and other adaptive equipment; Follows riders' programming procedures when necessary; assists in the boarding and departure of persons at points of embarkation and disembarkation in support of proper boarding procedures; turns in student/client absentee reports at disembarkation point in the morning, maintains attendance sheets as required. Performs daily vehicle pre-trip and post-trip inspections; reports all defects to garage for repairs; performs duties outlined in the Ohio Pupil Transportation Laws and Regulations. Participates in annual staff development program requirements and agency required programs to include annual in-services; communicates verbally and in writing to parents and staff, concerns and problems; provides input regarding safe transportation of riders. Assists with riders during non-route times (e.g., field trips); assumes responsibility for riders' possessions during route times; performs cleaning, disinfecting, and custodial duties as necessary. In the event bus driver duties are not available to be completed, supervisor may assign alternative/additional duties: duties may include but not be limited to delivering lesson plan or other materials to student's homes; picking up and returning equipment from student homes; assisting in class room settings; assisting on alternative transportation routes at various times of the day; completing cleaning/sanitizing duties on buses, or facilities and in other work areas; taking temperatures and distributing Personal Protective Equipment to guests as they enter a facility; assists other direct service providers serving individuals with developmental disabilities; other duties as assigned. Class A CDL Depack Route Driver Dayton, OH Full-Time / Hourly About the Role: The Class A Depack Route Driver plays a critical role in ensuring the timely and safe delivery of goods to various customer locations within the Dayton, OH area. This position requires operating a Class A commercial vehicle to transport depackaged products efficiently while adhering to all safety and regulatory standards. The driver will be responsible for managing route schedules, maintaining accurate delivery documentation, and providing excellent customer service during interactions. Success in this role directly impacts customer satisfaction and the overall efficiency of the supply chain. The ideal candidate will demonstrate reliability, professionalism, and a strong commitment to safety throughout their daily operations. This position is a safety-sensitive position and requires a clear mind and diligence. The employee is responsible for their own safety as well as the safety of others. Key Responsibilities Loading, hauling, and delivering food waste on intra- and interstate routes with multiple stops ranging from 15-25 per day by routing determined by the Company. Delivery equipment ranges from 30-45' open-top dump trailers (combination vehicles) across a regional footprint determined by management. Operate manual and automatic transmission vehicles by DOT requirements as well as all local, state, and federal laws. Operate manual or electric pallet jack as needed. Utilize a pressure washer to rinse bins and containers and leave all client locations clean and free of debris. Perform pre- and post-trip inspections. Typical use of hand tools for basic repairs of company bins and equipment. Maintenance of basic truck equipment and overall cleanliness of equipment. Utilize the electronic logging system for DOT driver logs and as otherwise required. Maintain paperwork (contamination and service tickets, truck maintenance, etc.) and submit all documentation to the appropriate party. Regularly communicate with customers and vendors to ensure seamless operations. Communicate with the corporate office/operations team regularly for all service, equipment, and customer service-related issues. Report all accidents and injuries immediately to the safety manager. Ability to work flexible hours based on seasonality, up to 60 hours in a 7-day week or 70 hours in 8 days. Attend and participate in weekly safety calls, trainings, or briefings. Basic usage of computer and cell phone for training, communication, and expense management Regardless of any regularly scheduled service route assignment, drivers may at any time be scheduled to work a different assignment, including interstate routes. All drivers should expect operating in interstate commerce as needed. A valid driver's license which meets the minimum requirements of CML's vehicle insurance policy is required. Hours: * Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday - 8:30am - 4:30pm, Friday evening 4:30pm-12:30am * Sunday - Thursday 4:30pm - 12:30am * Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday 2:30am - 10:30am Note: Candidates must be flexible and willing to work varying shifts to support library operations. What You'll Do: * Sorts library materials into boxes according to destination. Fills station area with rows of stacks of blue boxes, by pushing, pulling or otherwise moving stacks from center of work area. Retrieves boxes to sort from, by lifting and carrying box to station. * Clears boxes off the conveyor belt/line and stacks them in designated area according to destination/route. * Breaks down the workstation at the end of each work shift to send all remaining Library materials out for delivery. * Sets up workstation by replacing boxes on shelving units and placing location tags on boxes. * Process Search/Ohio/Interlibrary Loan (ILL) materials. Un-package and sort incoming materials into boxes according to destination. Sort outgoing materials into bags according to destination. * Determines owning location of library materials missing branch stickers/stamps. * Loads and unloads truck. Delivers books and other library materials. Includes counting number of boxes delivered and boxes picked up for sorting. Ensures buildings are secure when exiting. * Checks truck for all maintenance repairs (oil changes, gas mileage, etc.) and reports any and all damages to manger. Keeps truck clean and washed. Responsible for troubleshooting and making preventative maintenance recommendations regarding vehicles. * Assists with special events and completes other duties as assigned. * May perform courier services for the system as needed. * Completes assigned online training. * Performs additional duties as assigned including serving on task forces, committees, or assist other departments as needed with their workload. * Train new Driver/Sorter's on duties of the role, including vehicle operations, material handling, data collection. * Provide routine updates to the supervisor on trainees' progress. Minimum Qualifications: * High School diploma or G.E.D. * 3 years' driving experience preferred. * Experience operating a 26-foot box truck preferred. * Ability to perform alphabetic and numeric sorting. * Ability to operate library technology including personal computer, email, software programs (i.e. Windows/Microsoft Office) and other job-related equipment and systems. * Ability to utilize reliable transportation to promptly report to job assignment and other locations, per job requirements. * Valid driver's license which meets the minimum requirements of CML's vehicle insurance policy. Working Conditions and Physical Demands The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms, libraries, and residences or commercial vehicles (e.g., use of safe workplace practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, observance of fire regulations and traffic signals, and/or working in moderate outdoor weather conditions). Work requires occasional lifting or pushing of up to 100 lbs. and the frequent lifting or pushing of up to 50 lbs.
