The purpose of this position is to ensure proper installation and maintenance of plant combustion, drying and calcining operations to provide a safe, efficient and cost-effective operation. MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (not all inclusive): * Lead the Company's energy efficiency and conservation efforts. Evaluate current plant thermal and electrical systems. Recommend quality and cost improvement opportunities based on findings. 2. Evaluate production problems related to plant thermal systems and recommend changes to the Plant Manager. Assist plant personnel in implementing changes and training plant personnel as needed to sustain improvements. 3. Develop and implement strategies for data collection and process control technology upgrades. 4. Evaluate plant equipment needs and recommend Engineering equipment to be purchased. 5. Plan and direct activities of outside contractors ensuring timely completion of capital projects related to thermal and electrical systems. 6. Design new equipment or modify existing equipment to improve plant operations. 7. Coordinate with Division Engineering on all projects that require engineering assistance. 8. Assist in preparation of capital budgets by recommending specific projects, preparing appropriation requests, and obtaining competitive prices and/or bids. 9. Analyze new equipment for possible application to manufacturing process. 10. Coordinate initiatives with the Energy Department to optimize benefits/savings. 11. The position will be in Charlotte NC, with travel expected to be up to 50% of the time. QUALIFICATIONS: * Engineering degree preferred with appropriate work experience (will consider other qualified training and experience). * A minimum two-year manufacturing experience. Gypsum industry preferred. * Knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer and mass transfer. * Knowledge of balancing heat and air flows in board dryers. * PLC programming and AutoCAD knowledge a plus. * Working knowledge of industrial electricity (power distribution, motor controls, etc.) * Good problem-solving skills. * Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management, possess leadership and training skills, and have a high level of energy to assist in a start-up operation. The Corporate Safety & Health Compliance Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive safety and health programs to ensure compliance with OSHA, MSHA, DOT, state, and local regulations. Instruct all levels of employees on investigation of workplace incidents and regulatory violations. * Serve as primary liaison with regulatory agencies during inspections and inquiries. * Facilitate timely and accurate annual OSHA 300 reporting for each facility. * Drive standardization and continuous improvement by answering questions via phone/email and following up on required reporting and corrective actions. * Lead and coordinate the safety and health auditing process. * Act as the subject matter expert for determining severity and response to audit findings versus opportunities for improvement. * Manage the administration and data analysis function for Corporate Safety & Health. Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in occupational safety & health, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field (master's preferred). * Minimum 5-7 years of progressive experience in safety and health compliance in a manufacturing environment, with strong knowledge of OSHA, MSHA, and DOT regulations. Experience with multiple sites/states a plus. * Skilled in leading others without formal reporting authority. * CSP, CIH, or equivalent credentials strongly preferred. * Strong project management, analytical, problem-solving, auditing and leadership skills. * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. * Position will be located at the Charlotte, NC, NGC Headquarters. * Ability to travel up to 25% of the time. The Senior Scientist is responsible for leading and conducting scientific research including generating ideas, designing experiments, collecting, and interpreting data, and providing strategic insights to ensure that NGC maintains leadership in the building products market. They will play a key role in the identification and improvement of current processes and products as well as introduction and scale-up of new products/technologies that would be valuable to NGC. The Philadelphia Field Sales Representative serves as the primary point of contact for existing and potential National Gypsum customers in a complex, and competitive market. Building new relationships while offering best-in-class service to established distributors, contractors, and architects who purchase, install, and specify NGC products and systems is essential to maintaining National Gypsum's position as the industry leader in this territory. The purpose of this position is to ensure proper installation and maintenance of plant combustion, drying and calcining operations to provide a safe, efficient and cost-effective operation. MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (not all inclusive): Lead the Company's energy efficiency and conservation efforts. Evaluate current plant thermal and electrical systems. Recommend quality and cost improvement opportunities based on findings. 2. Evaluate production problems related to plant thermal systems and recommend changes to the Plant Manager. Assist plant personnel in implementing changes and training plant personnel as needed to sustain improvements. 3. Develop and implement strategies for data collection and process control technology upgrades. 4. Evaluate plant equipment needs and recommend Engineering equipment to be purchased. 5. Plan and direct activities of outside contractors ensuring timely completion of capital projects related to thermal and electrical systems. 6. Design new equipment or modify existing equipment to improve plant operations. 7. Coordinate with Division Engineering on all projects that require engineering assistance. 8. Assist in preparation of capital budgets by recommending specific projects, preparing appropriation requests, and obtaining competitive prices and/or bids. 9. Analyze new equipment for possible application to manufacturing process. 10. Coordinate initiatives with the Energy Department to optimize benefits/savings. 11. The position will be in Charlotte NC, with travel expected to be up to 50% of the time. QUALIFICATIONS: Engineering degree preferred with appropriate work experience (will consider other qualified training and experience). • A minimum two-year manufacturing experience. Gypsum industry preferred. • Knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer and mass transfer. • Knowledge of balancing heat and air flows in board dryers. • PLC programming and AutoCAD knowledge a plus. • Working knowledge of industrial electricity (power distribution, motor controls, etc.) • Good problem-solving skills. • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management, possess leadership and training skills, and have a high level of energy to assist in a start-up operation.
