Formerly the Spanish Coalition for Jobs, the National Latino Education Institute provides Chicago-based Latinos with a variety of educational and career opportunities in a highly supportive environment. Students at The National Latino Education Institute may enroll in programs leading to degrees or certificates in such high-demand fields as Allied Health and Business. Through its partnership with National Louis University, students at NLEI may also get a bachelor's or master's degree in everything from Liberal Arts to Education to Business. With its core mission being to support Latino students from all educational backgrounds, NLEI offers courses in both Spanish in English. NLEI also has an adult learning program. This course offers GED preparatory instruction for those needing to receive their high school diploma. NLEI believes in supporting its Latino students in all areas of their lives. NLEI therefore offers health screenings and educational programs in health and wellness. These are intended to give students information about everything from nutrition to cancer prevention to smoking cessation. Equally supportive is National Latino Education Institute's Career Services Center. This center offers a full range of services for students looking to change or start careers and for those wanting to upgrade their current skills. The Career Services Center offers job fairs, career assessment and counseling, job placement services, and courses in upgrading work skills. A commuter school, NLEI does not offer on-campus housing and all students attend full-time.
