1986

Hundreds of students have graduated from the program since it was established in 1986.

FLORIDA (TAMPA) Established in 1988 and located in one of Tampa's major business districts, NLU's Florida Regional Center serves students in 13 counties in central Florida.

A gift from trustee Michael W. Louis transformed the by-then National College of Education into a university bearing his name in 1990.

1990 – In recognition of the Louis family’s tremendous generosity and support, the institution is renamed National Louis University, a comprehensive university composed of three colleges.

In 2006, the university closed its former main site, which had 6.5 acres (2.6 ha) of land, with about 66% in the City of Wilmette and the remainder in Evanston.

2011

2011 – National Louis University celebrates its 125th year and is respected as one of Chicago’s oldest, most innovative private universities, providing a quality education for a new type of learner: one who is pursuing an education while managing other personal and professional goals.

2015

In 2015, NLU founded its Harrison Professional Pathways Program, an entirely new undergraduate degree program aimed at serving under-resourced but college-qualified youth in the Chicago area, specifically students graduating high school with a GPA between 2.0 and 3.0.

2016

2019

In the summer of 2019, NLU took on the former students and hired former professors from now-defunct Argosy University, a for-profit institution that was abruptly forced to close due to the discontinuation of federal financial aid.
