1996

1996 — National Processing Co., a unit of National City Corp., becomes a Louisville-based, publicly traded company, trading under the symbol “NAP” on the New York Stock Exchange.

1999

June 1999 — NPC sells two more business units in deals totaling $44 million.

2000

January 2000 — NPC buys a merchant-processing portfolio from Heartland Payment Systems.

2002

September 2002 — Wimsett resigns as CEO of National Processing Co.

2004

October 2004 — Bank of America closes on its $1.4 billion purchase of National Processing Co. and folds into its BA Merchant Services unit.

2006

September 2006 — The Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority offers Iron Triangle $3.2 million in state tax incentives over 10 years to create as many as 162 new jobs in Kentucky.

2010

September 2010 — NPC and Fifth Third Bank announce that a Fifth Third unit will acquire NPC, with operations remaining in Louisville, Houston and Chicago.
