National Safety Council company history timeline

1913

The National Safety Council was founded in 1913 and quickly developed the mission of eliminating preventable deaths in the workplace, on the road, and in homes and communities.

At the Second Safety Congress in 1913, the National Council for Industrial Safety was established.

1914

The name was changed to National Safety Council in 1914, to reflect the organization's expanded scope to include traffic and home safety.

2009

In 2009, NSC became the first organization to call for a complete ban on all cell phone use for all drivers.
