    The Abu-El-Haija laboratory in the Gastroenterology department is seeking a motivated and team-oriented research assistant to help move our research on pancreas diseases forward. The research assistant will perform basic biospecimen handling, which includes isolating plasma, buffy coat, processing tissues and their preservation, microbiome samples, etc. They will prepare RNA and DNA from each sample, coordinate generation of RNASeq data, RT-PCR for select genes, will coordinate IHC of slides. They will also perform biochemical experiments (e.g. Western blotting, ELISA, flow cytometry, immunostaining and imaging, etc.), lab maintenance, sample shipping, sample organization. Work with a team of clinical research coordinators with great experience in human subject research. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES * Perform experiments and record data - Follow established research protocols. Understand the scientific principles involved in the research. Apply those principles to troubleshoot and modify procedures and techniques when appropriate. Maintain accurate and detailed records of all laboratory work and experiments. Analyze data and perform statistical and graphical analysis of data.     As a Research Assistant in the Way Lab at Cincinnati Children's, you will support innovative immunological research aimed at improving pregnancy outcomes and enhancing newborn immunity. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES * Leadership - May act as a mentor to more junior staff, serve as the contact for resolution of complex issues, provide education, guidance and work direction. May provide input and feedback to managers on hiring decisions, professional development and performance management. * Lab Administration - Troubleshoot and correct erroneous results or problems with laboratory equipment. Provide Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) training according to regulations. Maintain optimal protocol and assay accuracy by conducting regular quality and reproducibility checks. Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and equipment. Operate laboratory apparatus and equipment. Assist in training postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, and junior laboratory personnel in laboratory techniques and equipment.     Dr. Anna Esbensen's laboratory in the Division of Developmental Disabilities and Behavioral Pediatrics is looking for a motivated postdoctoral research fellow to join her laboratory focused on clinical and behavioral outcomes research with children and adolescents with Down Syndrome. The fellow will be involved in several studies, including clinical trials of school-age children with Down syndrome, measuring cognitive or language outcomes in preschool to school-age children with Down syndrome and a study developing a novel behavioral outcome measure for use with individuals with Down syndrome. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES * Perform analysis and experiments - Design, execute, and record analysis and experiments; apply standard scientific protocols to research, and improve current methods and evaluate innovative techniques.     Dr. Miraldi's Immuno-Engineering Laboratory seeks a computational research fellow to build mathematical models of the immune system in vivo. These models will be constructed from cutting-edge, high-dimensional, immune-system measurements (e.g., single-cell genomics, chromatin state, proteomics). Our mathematical modeling frameworks span mechanistic (e.g., dynamic gene regulatory networks) to deep learning (e.g., prediction of cellular epigenomes from DNA sequence). Situated at Cincinnati Children's Hospital, we are dedicated to the design of computational methods and systems-immunology studies that will ultimately improve the health of children. Through close collaboration with our physician and experimental colleagues, we iteratively test and refine our models, so that the models yield novel insights into immune-cell function and ultimately guide new therapeutic strategies in the context of autoimmunity, infectious disease and cancer. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with experimental immunologists, physicians and other computational biologists. The team will design and execute hybrid computational-experimental strategies that push the boundaries of both immunology and computational biology.     The Tilburgs Lab is seeking a postdoctoral fellow to investigate the cellular and molecular mechanisms that govern maternal-fetal tolerance during healthy human pregnancy and pregnancy complications. Our research focuses on how interactions between trophoblasts and maternal immune cells shape immune adaptation at the maternal-fetal interface, and how disruptions in these interactions contribute to placental inflammation and infection. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in immunology and/or placental biology, and a passion for translational research in reproductive immunology. Experience with high-dimensional flow cytometry, cell sorting, human tissue culture, molecular biology techniques, genome editing, and/or computational analysis is highly desirable.
