NRDC is seeking a Photography Intern to work with the Communications, Multimedia team associated with our New York office.
Responsibilities
* Assist with research, selection and licensing of stock photography, illustration for editorial, social and digital advocacy & fundraising photo & video projects.
* Receive training in Photoshop editing techniques for basic color correction and resizing final files for digital delivery.
* Assist with commissioning photo shoots. Receive training and oversight to create photo shoot production timelines, call sheets and shot lists.
* Photographing evergreen content for the NRDC DAM (digital asset management) if applicable to candidate's skills.
* Assist with research, selection and licensing of stock footage for use in social vertical videos.
* Receive training in basic video editing and/or design if applicable to candidate's skill set.
* Gain an understanding of how Design, Video and Photo Teams collaborate on creative storytelling.
Qualifications
Required
* Photography-related experience (either educational or professional).
* Knowledge/experience with Adobe Creative Suite.
Preferred
* Majoring or minoring in Photography or related visual art.

Job Description
The Port of San Francisco is seeking a college student intern to support its Occupational Health and Safety programs. The intern will assist with fieldwork, maintain safety supplies and equipment, and conduct site visits.
The essential functions of this position include but are not limited to:
Meets with employees to follow-up on safety concerns.
Maintains various databases such as hearing conservation, medical monitoring appointments, and safety data sheets.
Assists with the coordination of safety and health training programs.

Qualifications

THE CITY OF OCEANSIDE IS AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER. The City of Oceanside is accepting applications from eligible SkillBidge Service members for experience as an Emergency Medical Technician. The program aims to provide potential candidates with valuable work experience in an emergency 9-1-1 system. As EMTs, candidates can expect to be trained in all aspects of medical emergency response by hands-on practical application of medical emergency response methodologies, along with the opportunity to work towards 1200 hours of experience for Paramedic School (California).
This is an unpaid Volunteer/Intern position for Active Duty Service members participating in the SkillBridge program prior to completion of military service. Internship is limited to 180 days, however amount of days will be based on unit command approval. Must be available to work 40 hour per week, schedule will be four, 10 hour shifts. Candidates must possess all of the required certs to be considered and must provide their own housing and transportation.
An Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) responds to medical emergencies; renders aid to injured parties; operates ambulances and other related medical equipment; participates in station, equipment and apparatus maintenance; attends training classes and drills; diagnoses medical problems and performs first-aid and resuscitator functions; and other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge of:
* First aid methods;
* A basic understanding of fire based Emergency Medical Services (EMS) delivery system;
* Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR);
* EMT scope of practice;
* EMS procedures and equipment;

The Engineering Level 2 Internship is within the SFMTA Planning and Engineering Internship Program.

The internship program offers seminars and field trips for interns to learn about various parts of the Agency. Attendance is mandatory at these events. Interns will also participate in PechaKucha presentations at the end of the summer.
Work Schedule:
We work in a hybrid and traditional environment, and you may be expected to work onsite in the office up to 5 days per week. In-office workdays are determined by the nature of the work and scheduled by your supervisor. Per the City's Telecommuting Policy, interns must be based in the Bay Area for the extent of their internship.
The internship follows a 40-hour work-week, generally between the hours of 8 AM and 5 PM, Monday to Friday. Work outside these hours may be required for fieldwork, outreach events, etc. Interns may be eligible for a flexible work schedule, subject to supervisor and division approval. Interns may work up to 1,040 hours in a fiscal year. Most intern positions will terminate at the end of summer; depending on the nature of the work, some positions may be eligible to continue into the school year, subject to supervisor and division approval.
Intern positions may be available in the following Divisions and Sections:
Streets Division:
Engineering interns within the Streets Division are responsible for developing design alternatives for transportation projects; performing field visits; preparing traffic control device work orders; drafting in AutoCAD; preparing striping drawings for official records; estimating project costs for traffic striping, signage, signal, and civil work scope; analyzing signal timing; reviewing construction work zones and site plans; supporting public outreach; and preparing legislation. Responsibilities will vary depending on the team.
Engineering teams within the Streets Division include:

Transit Division:
Engineering interns within the Transit Division are responsible for supporting the evaluation of the E-bus pilot program, participating in design review, project planning and engineering maintenance support for electrical distribution utility or being a part of the team that supports the Cable Car systems, storage tank systems, elevator/escalator systems and a variety of other transportation infrastructure. The specific responsibilities will vary depending on the team assigned.

How to qualify
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: At the time of submitting application, you must be enrolled in an accredited university or a community college pursuing a degree in one of the following fields: Civil Engineering, Traffic Engineering, or Transportation Engineering.
OR
Possess a baccalaureate degree or graduate degree in one of the above fields from an accredited university or community college AND be enrolled in an accredited university or a community college pursuing a degree in a related field.
* You must be currently enrolled and continuing in an associate, undergraduate or graduate program or entering/continuing a graduate program in the Fall 2026
* Students enrolled in second-to-last or last semester and will soon graduate are also encouraged to apply as you may still be selected for the program within six months of graduation.
Experience: No previous experience is necessary for individuals pursuing a master's degree or higher in a qualifying field. For undergraduate candidates, prior engineering or relevant internship experience is required to compete for positions at the 5381 level.

The Department also reviews plans and inspects construction of public improvements to serve private residential and commercial development and plans the capital and operating budgets.
The Department is seeking to hire engineering and public administration interns to provide support for several programs as described below:

Capital Improvement Program (CIP) Team
The CIP Team oversees the planning, design, and construction of capital improvement projects for the City. Under the guidance of a project manager or engineer, the intern could expect to support staff in gathering data, developing reports and estimates, reviewing field conditions, developing engineering plans, drafting consultant agreements and assisting with construction inspection and management duties.
The intern may provide aid on various projects related to roadway resurfacing, sidewalk improvements, park upgrades, water and stormwater design, and City facility improvements (buildings and infrastructure) amongst others. The intern will work closely with engineers, inspectors, and other City Departments to successfully execute project deliverables. The intern may also engage with external utility agencies and municipalities where required by task.
Duties may include:
* Assist engineers with general clerical, administrative, and technical tasks on projects

Transportation Team Description
The transportation division manages the city's existing transportation infrastructure - traffic signals and streetlights - and delivers new projects to improve travel for people of all ages and abilities. An intern on this team could expect to work on projects to enhance crosswalks, design new bike lanes, conduct corridor studies, coordinate with the capital improvement team on repaving and sidewalk projects, work closely with other department teams such as the streets maintenance team, work with the community on traffic calming projects, respond to resident requests, and review new private development applications to ensure their impacts on the transportation system are minimized. Strong communications skills - in person and in writing - are critical on this team to engage effectively with community members, stakeholders and regional partners like Samtrans, Caltrain, and Caltrans.
Duties may include:
* Assist project managers with general clerical, administrative, and technical tasks for transportation projects
* Assist with citywide signage and striping program, including field investigations, roadway striping design, signage and striping inventory, creating work orders and inputting data into a GIS database

Summary of Benefits for Detentions Deputy
Recruitment Bonus: The County will provide all employees hired on or after November 9, 2021, in a permanent capacity as a Detentions Deputy with the Sheriff's Office a $15,000 non-pensionable recruitment and retention bonus. The bonus shall be payable in full upon appointment by the Sheriff-Coroner-Public Administrator subject to completion of a 5-year term of service as a Detentions Deputy rank or higher, including in any continuing capacity as a sworn peace officer with the County of Kern. Appointees who do not complete the agreed upon term of service shall be subject to repayment of the bonus with the following amortization schedule:
1. Less than one year of services - $15,000
2. Less than two years of services - $12,000

Work Schedule:
We work in a hybrid and traditional environment, and you may be expected to work onsite in the office up to 5 days per week. Deputy Sheriff Trainee Physical Ability Test
Purpose of test:
The Physical Ability Test has been established as a bona fide occupational qualification through research and testing. It will test the applicant's ability to demonstrate the minimum physical standards necessary for field service as a Deputy Sheriff.
Apparel:
Clothing should be worn which will allow you maximum freedom of movement, yet provide protection against abrasions, especially the legs. Barefoot candidates or those wearing other than standard tennis shoes will not be permitted to take the test. Dressing rooms will not be available. Participants must be dressed in exercise apparel prior to arriving at the test location. Do not bring valuables to the test locations. Spectators (friends, relatives, etc.) will not be allowed.
Physical Condition:
People who are not in good physical condition should not participate in the test. You will be requested to sign a Waiver of Civil Liability which releases the County of Kern and the Kern County Sheriff's Office from liability for any injury which may result from your participation in the Physical Ability Test.
Composition of Test:
The Physical Ability Test measures those physical attributes necessary in the field performance of police work. Successful completion of every component is required. If you fail on your first attempt, you will be afforded a second opportunity to satisfactorily complete the test. Failure to successfully complete any one of the required components on the second attempt will fail you for the entire test.
99 Yard Obstacle Course
Situation: You have discovered a burglary in process and must pursue a fleeing suspect.
Requirement: You must run a 99-yard obstacle course consisting of several sharp turns, a number of curb-height obstacles, and a 34-inch-high obstacle that must be vaulted by placing both hands on top of the barrier. Each candidate will be allowed 26 seconds to complete the event.
Body Drag
Situation: You have observed a person lying unconscious next to a storage tank. As you approach, you detect the odor of lethal gas. The victim (simulator) weighs 165 pounds.
Requirement: You will have 12 seconds to move yourself and the victim to a place of safety outside the danger zone. The distance is 30 feet. Time starts when the victim's feet cross the starting line and ends when the feet cross the finish line.
Chain Link Fence
Situation: You are responding to a foot pursuit of a fleeing suspect through a residential neighborhood. The suspect leaps over a 6-foot chain link fence to escape. You must act quickly to maintain visual contact and continue the pursuit
Requirement: Run 5 yards to a 6-foot chain link fence, climb over fence, and continue running for 25 yards. Candidates cannot use the side support rails to get over the fence. Each candidate will be allowed 14 seconds to complete the event.
440 Yard Distance Run
Situation: Your partner has stopped two known felons, has been attacked, and is wrestling with the suspects. They are 220 yards away. You run to the scene and as you approach, the attackers flee. Upon arrival, your partner yells that these individuals are armed and to call immediately for assistance. You then run back to radio for help.
Requirement: Get to the scene as quickly as possible to assist your partner and then back to the start as quickly as possible to radio for assistance. Each candidate will be allowed 102 seconds to complete this event.
Summary of Benefits for Deputy Sheriff
Recruitment Bonus: The County will provide all employees hired on or after November 9, 2021, in a permanent capacity as a Deputy Sheriff with the Sheriff's Office a $15,000 non-pensionable recruitment and retention bonus. The bonus shall be payable in full upon appointment by the Sheriff-Coroner-Public Administrator subject to completion of a 5-year term of service as a Detentions Deputy rank or higher, including in any continuing capacity as a sworn peace officer with the County of Kern. Appointees who do not complete the agreed upon term of service shall be subject to repayment of the bonus with the following amortization schedule:
1. Less than one year of services - $15,000
2. Less than two years of services - $12,000
3. Less than three years of services - $9,000
4. Less than four years of services - $6,000
5. Less than five years of services - $3,000
Personal Patrol Vehicle (PPV) Program:
Participation in PPV Program is voluntary. Deputies who meet the criteria for home retention of a personal patrol vehicle will be allowed to retain their vehicle at their place of residence. Further details may be accessed in the KCSO Policy Section E-800.
Vacation, Holidays & Sick Leave
Vacation: 13 days and accrual rate increases yearly
Vacation Cash-In: Employees may sell back a combined maximum of forty (40) hours of accrued vacation or compensatory time off each November. The hours shall be paid out at the employee's regular hourly rate of pay at the time of the sell back.
Holidays: 12 Paid Holidays a year & 3 days of Paid Winter Recess Leave between Christmas and New Years OR 3 alternate days off if unable to observe Winter Recess.
Sick Leave: Up to 12 Paid Sick Days Per Year
Sick Leave Bonus: Employees shall be eligible for 24 hours Sick Leave cash out or 24 hours of CTO banks subject to items noted in the specified, MOU agreement for Sick Leave Bonus.
Compensatory Time Off (CTO): CTO is accumulated as hours at the rate of 1.5 times the number of overtime hours worked and is compensated at the employee's regular hourly rate of pay.
Additional Benefits
Overtime Pay: Ample opportunities for Overtime pay. Employees compensated at the rate is 1.5 times their regular rate of pay for all hours worked more than 80 hours (8-hour or 10-hour schedule) or 84 hours (12-hour schedule) per pay period.
Standby Pay: Employees required by the department head to be on standby (e.g. court) shall receive one-quarter (1/4) of their regular straight time rate of pay, or the minimum wage, whichever is higher, for all hours they are required to be on standby.
Shift Differential: The County will pay shift differential pay of 7.5% of base pay for any time worked between 9:00 PM and 7:00 AM.
Uniform Allowance: $1,300 annually. Paid bi-weekly at approximately $50 per paycheck. Safety equipment provided. Employees designated as SWAT receive an additional $11.50 per paycheck.
Canine Handler: Employees assigned as canine handlers receive additional compensation equal to 5% of their base salary for possessing specialized training and skills pertaining to the handling and training of Department canines, and for home care of assigned canine
Swat Team/Crisis Negotiations Team: Employees assigned to the SWAT Team or Crisis Negotiation Team receive additional compensation equal to 5% of their base salary while assigned to the SWAT Team or Crisis Negotiation Team.
Field Training Officers: Employees assigned as an FTO will receive additional "special assignment pay" equal to 5% of their base salary.
Bomb Detail: Employees assigned to the Bomb Detail receive additional compensation equal to 5% of their base salary for possessing specialized training and skills in the handling of explosive devices and for the hazardous duty.

Current capital projects include the renovation of various community recreation centers, clubhouses and restrooms; park landscape, playground, and adult fitness improvements; natural area and trail construction; restoration of significant historic park sites and structures; and master planning and programming for future park improvements.
Projects are funded through multiple sources including general obligation bonds, a property tax set aside (Open Space Fund), grants, and philanthropic donations.
The team is comprised of 13 project managers, two assistant project managers, and one intern.
Project Management Intern Roles & Responsibilities:Research historical park documents for improvement projects.
Prepare informational and graphic material for community outreach, grant applications, and other communications using Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office and potentially computer-aided design software such as AutoCAD or Revit to develop site maps, plans, visualizations, etc.
Support community meetings including printing materials, taking notes, analyzing survey results and preparing reports.
Photograph site conditions at various park locations, including organizing project photos.
Basic administrative support including filing, ordering supplies, receiving mail, data entry, word processing, creating spreadsheets, and other administrative tasks.
Posting notices related to projects on-site at various locations in SF.
Support regulatory and building permitting.
Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: At the time you submit your application, you must be enrolled in an accredited university or a community college in the following related fields:ArchitectureEngineering (Architectural, Civil, Environmental, Structural, Transportation and Water Resources Engineering) GeographyPlanning or Urban Planning Project ManagementLandscape Architecture Environmental DesignSustainabilityEnvironmental Studies Public Policy You must be returning to your undergraduate program or entering/continuing a graduate program in the Fall 2026.
