    ABOUT THE ROLE: The VP Asset Management & Recovery Strategy is responsible for shaping and executing the overall vision for collections and recovery across the credit union's multi-billion-dollar loan portfolio. This role will design and implement a future-state model that leverages automation, advanced analytics, and staff optimization to maximize efficiency, improve cure rates, reduce charge-offs, and enhance member financial wellness. The role requires a balance of strategic foresight, operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and strong leadership to ensure the collections and recovery function is positioned for sustainable growth. WHAT YOU WILL DO: * Provides leadership to the asset management team to ensure a trained, motivated, and professional staff capable of providing services in a timely and accurate manner and ensuring strong engagement of the overall team. Interviews, recommends for hire, schedules, assigns work to, counsels, establishes performance expectations, and recommends the necessary discipline and/or discharge of subordinate staff members, while maintaining required personnel documentation. * Develops and executes a comprehensive collections and recovery strategy aligned with organizational goals. * Redesigns job roles, workflows, and member touchpoints to maximize efficiency and effectiveness. * Partners with IT and vendors to expand automation, self-service tools, and analytics. * Implements risk segmentation strategies to ensure proper prioritization of accounts. * Monitors KPIs (delinquency rates, cure rates, roll rates, charge-offs, recovery yield) and adjusts resources accordingly. * Oversees vendor management for repossessions, legal firms, debt buyers, and technology partners. * Integrates financial wellness, hardship programs, and education into the collections strategy to align with credit union mission. * Promotes a culture of empathy, compliance, and accountability in member interactions. * Ensures all policies, procedures and practices comply with federal and state regulations (FDCPA, FCRA, UDAAP, NCUA). * Reviews policies, procedures, and training programs regularly for accuracy and effectiveness. * Provides regular reports to executive leadership and Board on collections performance and portfolio risk. * Works in partnership with the VP of Asset Management. * Performs all other duties as assigned by the SVP, Chief Lending Officer. QUALIFICATIONS: Education BA/BS degree in a business-related or similar field. Experience/Skills/Knowledge: * 7-10 years of progressive leadership experience in collections, loan servicing, or recovery within a financial institution required. * Strong track record in process redesign, automation adoption, and portfolio performance improvement required. * Must have a deep understanding of regulatory requirements impacting collections and recovery. * Excellent organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills required. * Must have the ability to conduct presentations and training programs. * Must have the ability to handle multiple projects/priorities simultaneously with an effective outcome. * Must have the ability to deal with highly confidential information. * Must possess strong service orientation skills in alignment with the credit union's mission and core values. * Excellent verbal, written, telephone and interpersonal communication skills required. * PC proficient, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and the Internet required. * Ability to function in a commercial office environment and utilize standard office equipment including but not limited to: fax, copier, telephone, etc. Ability to lift a minimum of 25lbs. e.g. file boxes * Must be able to travel on behalf of credit union business periodically. Conducts training of SpendTrack and Expense Management for Business Program Admins and cardholders, providing guides and FAQs to enable future self service. Develops and implements Business credit card product strategies and roadmaps in line with the Credit Union's overall business objectives to drive business card growth. Assists members and potential members in understanding and utilizing Credit Union products and services. WHAT YOU WILL DO: (Collections, Collector) 1. Collects all past due accounts. Communicates and counsels' members with delinquent accounts using specific knowledge of Credit Union guidelines, NCUA policies, as well as the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. Counsels' members with delinquent loans using specific knowledge of good collection techniques to maintain good relationships with delinquent members and yet avoid losses. 2. Collect on Mortgage Loans owned by secondary market investors (FreddieMac). 3. Coordinate loan modifications and troubled debt restructures with member mortgage accounts. 4. Responds to consumer disputes from Credit Bureau Agencies to ensure proper reporting of account activity. Reviews debt proposals from debt management organizations to work out reduced payments on delinquent and non-delinquent accounts. 5. Responsible for but not limited to, recommending which accounts to charge off, repossession, legal action, settlements on charged off accounts, freezing shares for delinquent purposes, answering court attachments, handling bankruptcies, and when necessary, works with the credit union-approved collection attorney to collect accounts through legal means. 6. Gather information regarding delinquent loan activity for the VP, Collections. Recommends delinquent accounts to be charged off. 7. Responsible for preparing a variety of reports on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, etc. basis, and for recommending policy and developing procedures to assure compliance with state and federal regulations. 8. Represents the Credit Union at legal proceedings. Negotiates with attorneys on bankruptcy and other legal issues. 9. Coordinate foreclosures for both Credit Union owned and secondary market owned properties. 10. Coordinate mortgage short sales dealing with real estate brokers, lawyers and other financial institutions. 11. Coordinates repossessions. Initiates appropriate action to sell or dispose of repossessed vehicles. Assigns accounts to outside Collection agency, according to policy. Responds to court garnishments and levies. 12. Performs other collections and/or administrative related duties as assigned by the VP, Collections. QUALIFICATIONS: Education High school diploma or equivalent (GED) education required. Experience/Skills/Knowledge: 1. Minimum 2 years progressively responsible experience in consumer loan collections and delinquencies preferably in a financial institution. 2. QUALIFICATIONS: Education * College diploma or university degree in a related field and 5+ years' work experience preferred * Relevant technical certifications required Experience/Skills/Knowledge: * In -depth technical knowledge of Microsoft Cloud, Microsoft Server, Network Fundamentals, Security Concepts required. * Must have 5+ years direct hands-on hardware & software troubleshooting * Must have working technical knowledge of Microsoft server and workstation operating systems including Windows Server 2019& Windows 10/11 required. * Must have working technical knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Azure Cloud required. * Must have extensive application support experience with Microsoft Office and other common user productivity * Must possess stronginterpersonal skills, oral communication skills, and proven analytical and problem-solving * Must have strong service orientation skills in alignment with the Credit Union's mission and core values. * Must possess strong time management skills and the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment required. * Ability to conduct research related issues and products as * Must be highly self-motivated and * Must have experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative * On-call availability for emergency evening and weekend support required.
