There are currently over 170,000 citizens in the Medical Review Program that require follow-up at varying intervals. Over 21,000 reviews are conducted each year, and the Medical Review Board conducts approximately 600 in-person hearings each year. Those citizens whose driving privilege is restricted or cancelled have a legal right per NCGS 20-9 to appeal the Unit's decision by requesting a hearing before a board comprising of licensed medical professionals.

Description of Work
This is skilled work in the repair and maintenance of standard and custom electronics devices, electronics subsystems, and smaller electronics systems. Positions may either function as agency or department-wide technicians responsible for the maintenance and repair of electronics devices, subsystems, or smaller systems; or involved in the same type of repair independently but under the general supervision of a higher level electronics technician. Positions calibrate, perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot, and repair electronics devices or systems made up of several interconnected devices where this interconnection complicates troubleshooting and repair procedures. Documentation in the form of schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, and repair manuals exist in many instances but may be fragmented or nonexistent in others. Electronics Technician II
This is highly skilled work in the maintenance and repair of complex electronic systems or developmental work in the modification, design and installation of electronic devices and systems. Some roles may specialize in the installation, maintenance, and operation of radio equipment in a statewide communications system. Positions directly supervise journeyman level technicians in resolving moderate to highly complex tasks. Work involves project management, workload distribution, and associated supervisory responsibilities to ensure work is completed timely and accurately. Positions also perform calibration, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of the most complex or novel electronics systems and devices. Electronics device work usually involves the design and testing of prototypes that perform novel and innovative functions. Unique circuit design is common at this level. The Grain Moisture Program is responsible for providing inspection of grain moisture meters throughout the state, determining their accuracy of reading the moisture content of grains such as corn, soybeans, and wheat. The moisture content is reflected in the price paid to the producer and in some cases can result in the product not being accepted at all.
This position involves a combination of both fieldwork and laboratory work. The fieldwork will be conducted in the 32 counties listed. The laboratory work will be completed at the Steve Troxler Agricultural Sciences Center in Raleigh, NC. This position requires extensive driving daily within the assigned territory. Duties include making moisture and test weight standards, cleaning grain samples, and maintaining laboratory testing equipment. The inspector will be responsible for communicating with local grain facilities and customers to arrange sample collections at the time of harvest. In addition, the inspector will also perform inspections of balances, grain charts, and thermometers used at these businesses. This employee will also perform scale inspections at retail locations within their territory between seasons.

Within 90 days after hire, the employee must:
* Have a valid NC driver's license
* Live within 30 miles of the county to which assigned
* Remain in county to which assigned for two years
* Reside within the state of North Carolina
Probation/Parole Officers:
* Are assigned a state car
* Carry and use gun and OC Pepper spray
* Do not always work with a partner and are expected to make home visits, sometimes in the middle of the night when on-call
* Must be able to arrest offenders
* Search an offender's home
* Must be able to learn a variety of software
* Make decisions about punishment of an offender who is non-compliant
* Must be able to pass certification requirements to include attending eight consecutive weeks of Basic training and remain on campus overnight. Training includes but is not limited to: Firearms, OC Pepper Spray, Controls, Restraints and Defensive Techniques (CRDT, non-lethal self-defense), Arrest, search and seizure, administering drug tests, ethics, laws, procedures, policies.
Note: In the Secondary questions, you will be asked to select the judicial district in which you would like to work. The counties located within each district are listed. *Jones County (district 4) is listed erroneously as Janes County. Hoke County (district 16) is listed as Hike County.
Minimum Education and Experience
Some state job postings say you can qualify by an "equivalent combination of education and experience." If that language appears below, then you may qualify through EITHER years of education OR years of directly related experience, OR a combination of both. Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution. You may apply and interview 90 days ahead of your anticipated graduation date.
There is no equivalency for the four-year degree requirement based on N.C. Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission.
Necessary Special Requirements: Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission. Must complete the Criminal Justice Standards Training requirements and all other requirements for General Certification within one year or as required by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.
