Description of Work
The Housekeeping position is responsible for a variety of duties in the care and cleaning of patient's bedrooms, bathrooms, classrooms, dayrooms and other State buildings. Duties may include physically strenuous activities such as moving furniture, operating heavy cleaning equipment and delivering large quantities of housekeeping supplies. Work is performed under close supervision, guided by a daily schedule for general assignments. Work is reviewed through inspections and frequent consultation with supervisory personnel. Examples of duties performed are: clean showers, commodes, and lavatories daily; wash beds, bedside tables and other furniture as needed; wash windows, screens and blinds; wash walls; push heavy carts of laundry to the central linen room; move heavy furniture from wall and clean behind furniture; collect and remove trash. *The work schedule will be 7:00 am - 4:00 pm and/or 1:00 pm - 9:30 pm and/or 10:00 pm - 6:30 am and weekends and holidays as assigned.
