Description of Work
The Clinical Referral Nurse is responsible for managing the Clinical Referral and Admission of patients seeking admission to the Walter B. Jones Center. This position works with the admission/referral staff to assure that clinical referrals are processed and admissions occur in a timely manner. This position also works as a float Nurse, providing direct Nursing Care at the direction of the Chief Nursing Officer.

About the Facility:
The Walter B. Jones Center operates two adult inpatient treatment programs on site in Greenville, NC: (1) Woodside Treatment Center and (2) Lakeside Psychiatric Hospital. The primary purpose and mission of the Walter B. Jones Center is "To provide inpatient treatment, psychiatric stabilization and medical detoxification for individuals with mental health, substance use and other co-occurring psychiatric diagnoses for ongoing community based treatment and recovery". The Center is accredited by the Joint Commission and SAMHSA/CSAT. Two specialty programs are offered to all 100 NC Counties: (1) Inpatient Opioid Treatment for adults and (2) Inpatient Perinatal Services for women in their 1st, 2nd, and 3rd trimesters with substance use disorders.

Description of Work
The Triage Charge Nurse provides comprehensive clinical care through assessment, intervention, coordination, and education to promote offender health and safety. Key duties include conducting telehealth triage via telephone or video consultations, evaluating medical complaints, and formulating timely nursing responses. The nurse performs accurate clinical assessments by integrating subjective symptoms with objective findings, applying sound nursing judgment, and operating independently within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act. This position supports continuity of care by developing and implementing care plans based on established protocols, provider guidance, and facility policy. It also includes assisting with urgent care, administering medications, coordinating follow-up care, responding to medical and mental health emergencies, and providing education on chronic disease, communicable conditions, treatment compliance, and preventive health measures. The nurse collaborates closely with providers, dental, and behavioral health teams, and follows through on clinical recommendations. The role requires the ability to think critically, make evidence-based decisions, and maintain a compassionate and professional demeanor. The Triage Nurse must foster trust with patients and contribute positively to interdisciplinary teamwork. The Triage Charge Nurse holds significant administrative and leadership responsibilities to support the delivery of quality care across multiple sites. Core duties include documenting and reviewing triage encounters and clinical actions, maintaining accurate and up-to-date nursing records, and generating routine reports related to clinical volume, case types, and performance metrics.
The Triage Charge Nurse will provide education and training for the triage team, report clinical concerns to the appropriate clinical chains of command and provide updates and guidance to custody personnel.
As a clinical leader, the Triage Nurse assists in orienting and mentoring nursing staff, delivering on-the-job training, and supporting quality assurance initiatives. The nurse serves as a resource for clinical decision-making, delegates appropriately, and communicates effectively with staff, management, and custody and medical personnel. This role requires strong organizational skills, a systematic approach to service delivery, and the ability to prioritize under pressure. The nurse must model professionalism, provide compassionate support to patients and families, and contribute meaningfully to staff development and interdisciplinary care planning. Position will be required to work any shift, weekends, or holidays as needed with limited supervision.
This role is primarily remote; however, occasional onsite work, mandatory facility orientation, and travel to correctional facilities may be required based on orientation needs, program, and operational needs.

Eligibility for Sign-on Bonus

Description of Work
RegisteredNurse position will perform specialized nursing and medical treatment and deliver care to developmentally and intellectually disabled individuals, many of whom are also medically fragile. This position carries out nursing care plans based on the diagnoses and pertinent medical information, and individual needs. The Registerednurse will independently carry out the nursing care process and will set up an environment to assist individuals in obtaining the maximum level of functioning and/or recovery. They will administer medication, participate in interdisciplinary team process, assist in coordinating care for the individuals, and work closely with the medical doctors, psychologist, social worker, recreational therapist, dietician, and other professionals to assist the individual in meeting their maximum potential for independence and function while providing the best quality of life possible.

Hiring Range: $70,000 - $83,500

This position Is designated as Mandatory and Must report or stay over during Adverse Weather Events.

Shift Premiums for 8-Hour Shifts:
* Day: Saturday and Sunday 10%
* Evening: Monday-Friday 20%, Saturday and Sunday 30%
* Night: Friday-Sunday 30%, Monday-Thursday 20%
Shift Premiums for 12-Hour Shifts:
* Day (7:00 am-7:30 pm): No Premiums, 5% Saturday/Sunday
* Evenings/ Night (7:00 pm-7:30 am): Monday-Friday 20%, Saturday and Sunday 30%
Eligibility for Sign-on Bonus
To qualify for the Sign-on Bonus, a newly hired permanent full-time or permanent part-time employee must work 30 to 40 hours per week to be eligible. Those who are eligible and working less than 40 hours a week will receive a prorated rate.
An employee is not eligible for a sign-on bonus if:
* The employee has held a position in the North Carolina State government, including the judicial system, or the University of North Carolina system, within the last 12 months (the employee shall remain ineligible for 12 months from the separation date)
* The employee has previously received a sign-on bonus from any State agency
* DHHS has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees.
