Description of Work
The MFP Applications Coordinator reports to the MFP Associate Director and is responsible for receiving, reviewing and processing MFP program applications, determining program eligibility, updating Medicaid beneficiary data in program data systems, and managing and distributing program education and outreach materials. The MFP Applications Coordinator engages directly with Medicaid beneficiaries, family members, facility staff, and others as needed to collect missing information or validate submitted data that is required to process and approve an MFP application as outlined in the MFP Operational Protocol.
Job Specific Responsibilities:
* Manage the Application Processing function including reviewing and processing applications, determining eligibility, communicating approvals and denials to appropriate individuals including, but not limited to transition coordination entities, facility staff, applicants, and others listed on the application.
* Manage the adverse notification process for beneficiaries who are denied eligibility in their application for MFP, or lose eligibility after approval, including the generation, maintenance, and updating of correspondence to ensure that applicants receive the appropriate communication outlining due process rights.
* Enter, validate, and manage data in the MFP data management and storage tools including Medicaid data, applications, supporting documents, consent forms, and other related beneficiary information.
* Process all withdrawal and transition paperwork received each reporting period, ensuring that submissions meet program accuracy and completeness under contract requirements.
* In coordination with MFP program staff, support data and quality efforts by assisting with the review and distribution of transition coordination tracking reports, ensuring case load logs match MFP data, and ensuring consistency with what is required for federal reporting requirements.
* In coordination with MFP program staff, support the analysis and of data to measure trends, identify discrepancies, and monitor transition activity of contracted entities.
* Develop and generate scheduled and ad hoc reports related to MFP demographic information and transition trends.
* Support the MFP Data Coordinator with the aggregation of MFP Participant Critical Incidents through Data Warehouse, eCAP, IRIS, monthly Transition Coordination Workbooks, and other reporting mechanisms.
* Support the MFP Data Coordinator with validation of local Division of Health Services Regulation (DHSR) licensure data for MFP use in application processing and outreach records.
* Serve as Project Lead in exploring ways to streamline applications and other program process including gathering stakeholder feedback, researching practices from other states, and researching other Medicaid program operations.
* Maintain and update all public facing program documents including the MFP application, consent form, and program overviews.
Money Follows the Person (MFP) is a state project that helps NC Medicaid-eligible North Carolinians living in inpatient facilities move into their own homes and communities with supports. Services under this demonstration grant will aid the State in moving forward with a long-term care system that provides an even greater array of home and community-based services and supports designed to promote choice and independence for older adults and people physical or developmental disabilities. MFP is a time-limited demonstration project, with activities anticipated to end in September 2027.

Description of Work
Employees accept, inspect and process the legal documents of new probation cases. They review court judgments and match offenders' skills to needs with consideration given to the offenders' criminal history, physical condition, age, transportation needs, and availability to perform the work within the designated period of time.
Work involves interviewing offenders to obtain information regarding past arrests/convictions, work records, and family social histories to develop treatment and sanction recommendations for court-ordered presentence and pre-parole investigations. Employee must consider the needs of both the offenders and the recipient agencies and, if necessary, will refer offenders to support agencies for assistance to meet special needs.
Administrative tasks include, but are not limited to, negotiating agreements, placing offenders with agencies to perform designated community service work, complete required documentation, prepare reports, and maintain case files.
Work involves significant contact with members and officials of the judicial system, community agencies, victims, offenders, and general public while serving as the court's representative in the community and maintaining public awareness of the program.

The JSC shall have extensive knowledge of Structured Sentencing and how it applies to Community Supervision and knowledge of the Community Service Work Program.
The JSC shall exhibit a working knowledge of local and regional community resources to address the placement of monitored offenders to government and nonprofit agencies in the community.
The JSC must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with the Judiciary, offenders and the general public to ensure thorough and appropriate collection, analysis and utilization of data to interpret Division guidelines, policies and procedures.
The JSC shall behave in a professional manner at all times as they hold a highly visible position within Community Supervision and their actions will reflect upon the entire Division. Final Product or Outcome Anticipated: Intern will promote the NC Division for Women & Youth youth programs and events through newsletters. The intern will coordinate outreach to State Youth Councils, assist with Lady Cardinal Mentorship Program and other projects as deemed necessary.
Academic Majors Desired: Communications, Technology, Education, English, Marketing, Social Work, Early Childhood Development, Psychology, Parks & Recreation Management, or a related field.
2026 State of North Carolina Internship Period: Monday, May 18 - Friday, July 24, 2026
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies:
Being comfortable around all ages of students and willing to help them learn. Intern should exhibit skills in Microsoft Office and strong oral and written communication skills.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
* An applicant must be a permanent North Carolina resident attending a college, university, law school, community college or technical institute in North Carolina or a North Carolina resident attending an equivalent institution out of state.
* Applicants must carry a 2.5 or greater overall grade point average on a 4.0 scale.
* Applicant must be a high school graduate and at least 18 years old by January 1, 2026.
* Applicants must be continuing their education in the fall following their participation in the program.
* To qualify for a law internship, applicants must have completed at least one year of law school before the beginning of the internship, unless other majors are listed.
* Students having previously held paid internships with this program are not eligible to apply.
* Applicants must be willing and able to work full-time for the entire 10-week internship. Applicants must be able to provide legal proof of identity and work authorization within three working days of employment.
This position will close at 11:59 p.m. the night before the end date.
