1992

The company went public in 1992, and a year later its sales soared to more than $130 million.

1997

The joint venture operated under the name Midwest Metal Coatings LLC. By the end of 1997, it was clear that NCI’s growth strategy was paying off.

1998

Haflich, Frank, “Major W. Coast Coil Coater Sold,” American Metal Market, June 9, 1998.

Citing primarily the effect of the midyear acquisition of MBCI, the company announced 66 percent revenue growth and 92 percent growth in income from operations during fiscal year 1998.

2000

Founded in 2000, Steelbuilding.com operated as the largest marketer of engineered steel buildings via the Internet.

2001

The company’s restructuring and new sales strategy, however, could not stem a sales decline for fiscal 2001 to $954.9 million from more than $1 billion in the previous year.
