• At least 2 years of experience in a hands-on technical role in an industrial environment.

• Established verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position, to include:

• operation of a power hoist and/or forklift (Training will be provided)

• lifting up to fifty (50) pounds alone or heavier items with assistance

• Sitting at the system control console to operate the x-ray system and review the x-ray images to disposition parts. During the work shift this duty and the load/unload duty will be alternated with a co-worker.

• Lifting, bending, walking and maneuvering as required to load and unload parts

• Capable of working within the rugged dusty industrial environment

• Positive attitude and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced team environment.

• Ability to accept change and adapt to new policies and procedures.

NDT Level II
As an NDT technician, you will be responsible for performing inspection of all critical welds on the vehicle and ground support equipment. This includes, but is not limited to, primary structure welds, tube welds, launch stool welds, and tooling and test equipment welds. You will be driving the reliability and safety of weldments and fabricated parts across the company. You will work closely with engineering to write Inspection plans, develop Inspection processes, and certify Inspection techniques. We are looking for personnel experienced In PT (Penetrant Testing) and PAUT (Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing), who have achieved a level II or greater certification. Candidates should thrive in a fast-paced environment and take ownership of their work. This role also will require some travel to the various sites that ABL Space Systems occupies. This is a role that contributes to ABL's goal of providing rapid and reliable access to space.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Partner with engineering to develop Inspection processes and procedures Contribute to standards used across future products Manage scheduling of NDT work, and consumables needed during InspectionsEvaluate quality of welds per engineering documents Deliver accurate, concise, timely Inspection reports to relevant parties Participate in continuous Improvement of Inspection methodologies Support build teams and engineering in root cause analysis discussions as needed

NDT Technician

PRIMARY DUTIES

  • Assist in the completion of required instrument calibrations and ultrasonic inspection procedures and related tasks using a continuous improvement approach aimed at an increase in productivity of personnel and elimination of waste in material and capital, resulting in a consistent, low-cost product delivered on schedule.
  • Instrument tasks include developing knowledge and assisting with the testing, preventative maintenance, repair, modification and the calibration of instrumentation systems for production process equipment.
  • Assist in the performance of ultrasonic instrumentation or systems for ultrasonic production process equipment.
  • Develops knowledge of the analysis of malfunctions and make the necessary repairs or modifications.
  • Assist in the maintenance of records of all calibrations, repairs, and modifications.
  • Ultrasonic inspection tasks include the examination of finished materials, evaluation of ultrasonic search units, and the certification of reference standards.
  • Assist in the certification of reference calibration bars (RCB’s) and develop ability to perform certifications after six (6) months.
  • Obtain and maintain a basic knowledge of ultrasonic inspection techniques, materials, gages, tools and equipment, including the ability to work from drawing, sketches, manuals or procedures to assure compliance to established quality specifications.
  • Support the plant with overtime as required and willingness to work a rotating shift
  • Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned

REQUIREMENTS

  • Associates degree in related technical field preferred
  • Current Level II certification in the nondestructive test method of Immersion Ultrasonic Testing required
  • Advanced knowledge of instrument testing, modification, repair and calibration techniques, tools and equipment
  • Advanced knowledge of ultrasonic inspection techniques, materials, gages, tools and equipment
  • Ability to perform tasks related to control or instrumentation systems for production process equipment
  • Requires the ability to pass a pre-employment test, background check and physical including drug and alcohol screen
  • Able to work rotating shifts and overtime when needed or required (including weekends and holidays)
