General Responsibilities: Provide engineering and consulting services for a broad array of projects and clients. This may include performing and/or leading field investigations, engineering analysis, calculations, and recommendations, design and development of plans and specifications, observation and inspection, and the writing, preparation, and review of related reports for the services provided. Review drawings and construction to assure compliance with plans and specifications. Prepare proposals and cost estimates, track and evaluate project progress, budgets, and recommend changes. Research and resolve design and construction problems. Assign, review, and evaluate laboratory or field data for inclusion in reports. Apply sound engineering principles and be able to communicate complex engineering issues and concepts to technical and non-technical clients and project teams. Services may be provided for existing or proposed projects in a variety of sectors, including for example public works, transportation, commercial, communications, energy, and industrial. Essential Roles and Responsibilities: * Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management. * Demonstrate quality practices and acumen. * Provide consistent quality standards on proposal and project delivery. * Proficient engineering professional responsible for managing and executing small projects of minimal complexity. * Assist in developing the scope of work for routine projects. * Assist in the preparation of cost estimates, specifications, and other project related documents. * Analyze data, and perform engineering calculations and analysis for PE review. * Conduct, coordinate or supervise field investigations, laboratory testing, and evaluation of respective data. * Develop plans, schedules, conducts, and/or coordinates detailed phases of assigned project work. * Work closely with senior-level project manager and Professional Engineer of Record to gain project management and engineering experience. * Makes design recommendations, adaptations and modifications for review and consideration by the Professional Engineer of Record. * Prepares work scope, proposals and reports and plans investigations for approval by senior level professionals. * May supervise field staff including graduate/field engineers, engineering technicians, exploration teams, laboratory staff and other support personnel. * Interacts with client and project team in developing scope of services and communicating project progress. * Works under the supervision of a Professional Engineer and a Terracon Authorized Project Reviewer. Under the direction and supervision of the Administrative Director of Infrastructure and the Chief Information Officer, the Network Systems Engineer designs, maintains, and secures the network and server infrastructure supporting all areas of the College. These systems include Internet and email services, enterprise networking and IP services, on-premise and cloud-based servers and services, physical access control and security camera equipment, network-connected audio-visual equipment, and data infrastructure, including copper and fiber cabling and power management systems. This position works in conjunction with the Client Services and Information Services teams and acts as tier-3 support for technical troubleshooting. This position is involved in the design and installation of IT systems for new and remodeled college facilities. The primary worksite will be at the Southeast Community College Lincoln Campus; however, responsibilities will require work at other locations as necessary. This is a full-time regular position. Essential Functions * Design, install, maintain, and troubleshoot robust and secure Local Area and Wireless Area Networks. Monitor and manage LAN/WAN bandwidth. Utilize monitoring tools to analyze trends and service outages across the college network and server infrastructure. * Establish and maintain network applications, file and print servers on current Windows and Linux platforms. * Establish and maintain client workstation management using Active Directory and third-party software tools. * Provide technical assistance to Client Services and other IT team members as a means of issue escalation. * Work as a team to design, install, monitor, and maintain the college network infrastructure. * Develop and maintain network-related documentation. * Maintain Omnissa Horizon virtual desktop infrastructure. * Maintain and monitor network firewalls and other network security software and hardware tools, including anti-virus, intrusion detection, network access control, data loss prevention, and similar tools. Monitor and review server and security audit logs. * Maintain essential network services, including DNS, DHCP, and Domain Controller services. * Automate repetitive processes with Windows PowerShell and other scripting languages. * Monitor and maintain server operating systems. Ensure applicable security patches are installed. Ensure software is updated to stay within supported versions. * Monitor and maintain the system to back up critical data. Participate in the restoration of files as needed. Participate in the development of disaster recovery/failover planning. * Participate in continuing education to understand current trends and threats in the field of computer networking and security. Definition This Engineer IV will manage the Division of Power (DOP) Distribution Engineering Section. The position oversees the engineering of distribution power systems within DOP and will supervise lower-level Engineering and paraprofessional staff. Definition This Engineer III position will manage the Division of Power (DOP) Engineering Distribution group responsible for electrical substations, distribution, and transmission. The position will oversee lower level engineers and paraprofessional staff. This group will manage capital improvement projects for power distribution, perform calculations and testing to resolve issues on the existing power grid, review plans impacting DOP facilities, assist in designing for customer service requests, monitor the existing grid utilizing SCADA, and assist in developing the program for long term maintenance and improvement of the DOP power grid. Preferred Qualifications: Electrical engineering degree or experience in power substation and/or distribution design.
