Purpose:
The Maintenance Engineering Manager is responsible for overseeing all maintenance operations, repairs, and technical coordination for NEP s U.S. Mobile Unit fleet and broadcast facilities. This role ensures that every mobile unit, facility, and associated gear meets the highest operational standards through proactive maintenance, efficient repair processes, and rigorous quality control (QC).
The position also manages gear check-in/out procedures, coordinates repairs and upgrades, provides mentorship to apprentices and maintenance engineers, and collaborates closely with operations and logistics teams to support live broadcast readiness and excellence across all facilities.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Oversee maintenance engineering activities related to mobile units, including repair, inspection, testing, and technical QC of gear returning from and preparing for shows.
Direct and perform troubleshooting component-level repairs, and oversee vendor service for audio, video, intercom, power, and control systems. Collaborate with mobile unit coordinators to track all vendor repairs, warranty claims, and parts replacements.
Maintain an accurate and up-to-date inventory of spares, replacement parts, and consumables. Ensure critical components are stocked and organized for rapid turnaround.
Ensure the maintenance shop is clean, safe, and optimized for efficient workflows. Oversee the organization of repair benches, tools, and testing areas.
Provide support, repair, and upgrade assistance for custom built NEP critical monitoring systems.
Implement standardized maintenance and gear tracking procedures across facilities. Identify and drive continuous improvements in repair turnaround, QC processes, and asset reliability.
Work with the project management team to schedule proactive and preventive maintenance for mobile units. Coordinate with the engineering team to ensure annual and proactive maintenance checks are completed accurately and annually.
Be part of the 24/7 on-call technical support team to provide escalation-level support for field engineers during live productions or on-call maintenance emergencies.
Position Requirements:
Bachelor s or Technical Degree in Broadcast Technology, Electrical Engineering, or Electronics preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
5 10 years of broadcast engineering or mobile unit maintenance experience, including leadership or supervisory roles.
Supervisory experience required, including project coordination, sales support, and other related activities.
Ability to stay up-to-date and maintain a strong understanding of the latest proprietary broadcasting equipment, hardware, software and electrical components.
In-depth knowledge of broadcast truck systems, including routing, video/audio signal flow, intercom, and power systems. Networking experience is a plus.
Familiarity with broadcast equipment logistics, inventory systems, and repair ticketing/tracking tools.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interface effectively with clients, crew, and vendors.
