The right individual is recognized as a subject matter expert in E&A engineering. This role brings a unique opportunity for an accomplished engineer who will bring proven plant floor experience to step into this strategic corporate role with excellent growth prospects. In this role you will demonstrate a deep understanding of specific automation systems and industry wide best practices. You will depend on your proven hands-on E&A experience and a team-oriented mindset to successfully integrate into several multidisciplinary, diverse, and highly competitive team environments. The right individual will maintain focus on the core objective of the Aseptic Engineering team; To act as a leader and a strategic engineering resource for multiple site-specific E&A teams. Ensures that competency assessment and competency building plans are in place, routinely reviewed and executed in the factories. Help factories to define and create the right E&A team structure to support each of the factories. Coach junior and senior engineers during the onboarding process and set regular development reviews. Deliver technical trainings. Deliver Process Improvements: Have a good knowledge of the production processes (Process Mastership) and problem solving methodologies, help the factories to identify and deliver improvement of quality, safety or efficiency while protecting the technological know how and competitive advantage. Operate and Maintain: Have a detailed insight on the factories' strategy, KPIs and gaps to support the implementation and execution of maintenance strategy, tools and methodologies at site level. Ensures safe and reliable operation of electrical systems, instrumentation, process and supervisory control, and manufacturing execution systems (MES). Drive implementation of digital technologies to deliver assets' reliability. Manage Risk and Compliance: Work together with the factories to ensures that all E&A installations comply with market and corporate safety, health, environment, product safety and product quality standards. Ensures that the key E&A documentation is up to date and in place (e.g. electrical drawings, automation documentation and backups, maintenance plans, etc.). Ensure that the Management of Change is in place to appropriately manage modifications involving E&A systems. Drive Sustainability: Actively participate on the factories' sustainability objectives, help define priorities, develop and operationalize the strategy to generate energy and water savings. Bring new ideas generated through corporate initiatives or benchmarking. Track and report results coming from any improvement projects, even from the ones that are not specifically related to sustainability. Manage factory asset portfolio: Ensures a strategy is in place to anticipates asset end-of-life, obsolescence and replacement requirements, without compromising asset performance and cost competitiveness. Ensures timely stakeholder awareness for capital planning purposes. Excel in Industrialization: Directly participates in strategic Capital Investments projects and support or guide other Market projects that involves the E&A area, ensuring that the technical solution follows corporate and market standards and is delivered with the expected quality, being on time and in budget. Stay up-to-date on emerging technologies and best practices in the field of electrical and automation engineering, and apply this knowledge to drive innovation and improvement in manufacturing processes. Prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations related to electrical and automation engineering projects, initiatives, and performance. Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent * Graduate degree is a plus * Professional Engineer license (P.E.) is a plus * Project Management Professional certification (PMP) is a plus * Minimum 8 years' experience in the field of E&A (Electrical & Automation). * Enthusiastic to work in a manufacturing facility in the Food and Beverages industry, or other Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industry * Good knowledge of electrical distribution systems (low, medium and high voltage installations) * Good knowledge of local electrical codes and standards * Excellent knowledge of Instrumentation and Calibration process * Proficient in automation systems and equipment (HMI - Human-Machine Interface, PLC - Programmable Logic Controller, Industrial networks, etc.). Primary Duties & Responsibilities * Provide daily support and leadership for the Manufacturing Engineering, Facility Engineering, and Maintenance groups * Lead new equipment research, justification, Design, acquisition, and implementation. * Lead planning and managing the Capital budgets and projects throughout the Facility * Support the goals of manufacturing / production group and the site * Trouble-shoot mechanical processes on all production lines with regard to their performance, manufacturability, and competitiveness. * Develops and initiates standard practices for preventive maintenance activities and inventory control * Lead and train predictive maintenance concepts * Optimize spare parts inventory through historical usage evaluation and predictive tools * Develop and lead preventive maintenance program, including effective use of CMMS system for maintenance scheduling and parts management. * Hold maintenance and engineering teams accountable for following visual workplace standards of 5S and housekeeping * Develop local machine shop and contractor relationships, including establishing multiple support sources for infrastructure and critical equipment and systems * Develop contingency plans for infrastructure and equipment failures * Partner with all Spectrum Brands manufacturing sites to share best practices and create support programs for parts and talent sharing as needed * Prepares complete proposals and timelines for implementation and follows through to completion on a project management basis. * Develop staff to insure the future growth of the organization * Assist staff in leading process improvements which reduce manufacturing costs and increase production efficiencies throughout the facility. * Work within specific project objectives and recommend appropriate ideas and technical solutions to challenges with new products and processes. Contribute to the development of innovative process improvements with ideas, concepts, collaboration and intellectual property. * Work with inside and outside resources to procure materials & mechanisms, develop designs, and refine systems involving process improvements, technology enhancements, and ergonomic improvements. * Develop new prototype designs/apparatus/test methods by leveraging appropriate resources to validate performance and demonstrate efficiency of new materials or processes. * Collect, organize and analyze data from a variety of sources, make conclusions and recommendations and provide regular progress reports on projects. * Maintain current awareness of new technology and developments relevant to areas of specialty. * Use oral and written communication skills to update management, peers and team members of work progress and findings. Participate in cross-functional meetings and interface effectively with other functional areas. Where necessary, form teams to facilitate improvement programs. * Perform various tasks as specified, warranted, needed, or directed for the good of the site and the organization, in a confidential professional manner befitting a Leader in the Spectrum Pet Care organization. Education and Experience Profile A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Process related Engineering field: * 4-year B.S. degree with at least 3-5 years professional technical experience in a production manufacturing environment and at least 2 years management / supervision experience Required Skills A creative, motivated, self-starter, with a demonstrated ability to lead projects or significant portions of projects, with limited supervision. Good written, oral and inter-personal skills and ability to perform well in a high intensity team environment. A hands-on candidate having experience developing complete manufacturing systems Work Environment Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing / warehouse environment.
