PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Team Leadership

Drives the Digital Transformation program in Product Development by utilizing Centric PLM integrated with Salesforce CRM and Bynder DAM.
Vision and Pipeline
Studies fiber and fabric trends to define a clear vision and innovation pipeline for each product category in collaboration with Marketing and Merchandising.
Partners with internal and external teams to bring the pipeline to market-through product design, prototyping, and manufacturability.
Collaborates with commercial teams to introduce new collections at Spring and Fall Home Textiles Market.
Communicates product plans, progress, and results to executives and stakeholders, and builds confidence in the product pipeline.
Product Design and Development
Conducts competitive analysis and models market opportunities.
Leads the Product Development team in creating new products and enhancements.
Oversees value engineering and drives cost reduction through technical change initiatives that increase sales and margins.
Guides the creation of detailed Product Specifications in Centric PLM, produces Tech Packs for costing by internal and external suppliers, and aligns with internal Pricing team.
Development and Sourcing Partnership
Collaborates with domestic and international teams on the development of prototypes, production samples, and commercial-ready products that adhere to Tech Packs.
Coordinates with vendors to negotiate new item costs and meet margin targets.
Supports the Sourcing team by providing specifications and data for existing programs.
Partners with vendors to gather cost analysis data, negotiate pricing, and break down costs.
Cross-Functional Leadership
Collaborates cross-functionally with Merchandising, Marketing, Sales, Operations, Sourcing, and other departments to achieve sales and margin targets.
Partners with Quality and other teams to resolve vendor-related challenges.
Helps establish vendor performance tracking and reporting of key KPIs.
Contributes to continuous improvement efforts and drives process enhancements.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in business or related field required; MBA preferred
Minimum of 15+ years of experience in Product Development, preferably in the bedding, soft home, or apparel industry, with demonstrated ability to deliver innovation
Consistent record of delivering sales driving and margin accretive product innovation
Technical expertise in fabrics, fiber fills, and textile manufacturing
Experience implementing and using Centric PLM or similar Product Line Management system strongly preferred
Ability to forge strong relationships with key partners including Merchandising, Sourcing, Pricing, Marketing, and Sales
Strong communication skills in various settings including with Senior Leadership, retail customers, and suppliers

About The Role
In this role, you will design and execution of the Balance of Plant (BoP) systems that make fusion power possible - from radiation shielding and gas handling to thermal management and heat recovery. This role is at the heart of translating fusion physics into practical power generation. You'll build and lead teams that integrate Helion's fusion generators with the systems that extract, move, and manage energy at scale. It's a rare opportunity to lead multidisciplinary engineering at the edge of what's possible and you'll have direct ownership of the systems that will define the world's first fusion power plant. This is an onsite role that reports directly to the VP of Engineering at our Everett, WA office.
What You Will Be Doing:
* Build and lead high-performing engineering teams across mechanical, thermal, and fluid systems
* Own the design and delivery of critical plant systems - radiation shielding, fuel and exhaust gas systems, vacuum infrastructure, and thermal management
* Partner with nuclear, magnet, and systems engineering teams to integrate fusion generators into a cohesive power plant
* Drive cross-functional engineering execution - from early concept to detailed design, manufacturing, and test
* Set the technical bar for rigor, documentation, and accountability, ensuring safety, scalability, and reliability
* Continually raise the standard for ownership, execution pace, and design clarity across your teams
* Develop the next generation of Helion engineering leaders through mentorship and example.
Required Skills
* A degree in engineering or physics
* 10+ years of multidisciplinary engineering experience, including 5+ in technical leadership or management
* Proven success leading complex system design from concept through deployment
* Expertise in one or more of the following: mechanical systems, heat transfer, vacuum systems, or process engineering
* Demonstrated ability to build structure and focus in fast-moving, high-ambiguity environments while building teams that execute
* A leadership style centered that aligns with Helion's values - ownership, urgency, rigor and truth

Helion's compensation package includes a competitively benchmarked base salary, meaningful equity grants, and comprehensive benefits. Final compensation is determined through a holistic evaluation of your experience, qualifications, and our commitment to internal equity - ensuring fairness and transparency across our teams. We are committed to fostering a fair and equitable environment in every aspect of our operations, including compensation.
This is an exempt salaried role.
Annual Base Pay
$240,000-$300,000 USD

RESPONSIBILITIES
Controls System Design & Optimization
Design, develop, and maintain control systems for data center power distribution, cooling, and mechanical systems.
Monitor system performance, analyze data, and adjust controls to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
Support integration and maintenance of Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Management Systems (EPMS).
Project Leadership & Collaboration
Collaborate with Controls and Monitoring team and stakeholders to deliver integrated solutions aligned with client operational goals.
Lead large-scale control system projects from conception through implementation and commissioning.
Provide ongoing support, troubleshooting, and optimization of existing systems to ensure reliability and performance.
Documentation & Standards
Prepare technical documentation and standard operating procedures for system operations and maintenance.
Contribute to energy efficiency projects and sustainable practices in data center operations.
Contribute to completion of other key initiatives as assigned.
Required Education, Knowledge, and Abilities
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field required.
Minimum 5 years of experience in controls engineering with focus on data center or similar critical environments.
Expertise in programming, configuring, and managing PLCs, SCADA, and HMIs within BMS and EPMS systems.
Proficient understanding of data center infrastructure systems (electrical and mechanical).
Familiarity with EtherNET/IP, Modbus, and BACnet protocols.
Strong data analysis, problem-solving, and system optimization skills.
Ability to interpret complex technical drawings and schematics.
Demonstrated experience managing full-lifecycle control system projects.
Preferred: Experience with Rockwell FactoryTalk and Studio 5000 or similar platforms.
Preferred: Experience with energy efficiency and sustainability projects in data centers.
Excellent communication skills to convey complex technical details to non-technical stakeholders.
Ability to travel 5-10% of the time; valid driver's license required.
Participation in on-call rotation (team schedule).
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, Outlook.

Your Profile / Qualifications
Requirements for Both Roles:
Experience: Minimum of 2-5 years of recent sales or technical experience in processing equipment in any of the industries we support
Education: Undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering, Business Administration or other relevant courses, or equivalent years of experience
Technical Communication: Proficient in understanding and communicating technical data and engineering systems.
Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, able to work well both independently and in a team setting.
Travel: Willingness to travel overnight approximately 2-3 nights per week, with infrequent additional trips to Germany headquarters.
