Key Responsibilities
Administrative Responsibilities (NOLA Office + US Operations)
Oversee day-to-day office operations including supplies, facility coordination, vendor management
Maintain office files, databases, and documentation using MS Office and GSuite
Provide general clerical support such as correspondence, data entry, and reporting- example parking claims.
Assist with operational needs across the broader US organization as required HR Responsibilities (Americas & EMEA)

Role Purpose:
The HR Administrator will provide day-to-day HR support across the employee lifecycle and serve as the primary point of contact for US employees for HR-related questions.
A key part of this role will be managing the payroll process in coordination with our external payroll provider to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant pay cycles.
This position is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, highly organized, service-minded, and comfortable working in a fast-moving global environment.
What to expect:
HR Administration
Support the full employee lifecycle (onboarding, job changes, promotions, offboarding).
Prepare employment documents: offer letters, contracts, policy acknowledgements, etc.
Maintain employee records and ensure data accuracy.
Respond to employee inquiries related to benefits, policies, PTO, and HR processes.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor regulations.
Support annual processes such as performance reviews and benefits enrolment.
Payroll Administration (with external provider)
Serve as the main US payroll contact and coordinate all payroll inputs.
Verify timesheets, overtime, PTO balances, commissions, and deductions.
Review and validate payroll reports from external provider before final approval.
Ensure payroll changes (hires, terminations, compensation updates) are processed correctly.
Manage year-end payroll processes (W-2s, audits, corrections).
Collaborate with Finance to reconcile payroll costs and provide monthly reporting.
Benefits & Compliance
Coordinate benefits administration (medical, dental, vision, life, disability, 401k, etc.).
Manage employee leave processes (FMLA, disability, workers' comp).
Support policy updates and ensure US HR documentation is compliant.
Assist with mandatory reporting and audits.
Employee Support & Engagement
Act as first-line HR contact for US employees and managers.
Support HR initiatives, engagement activities, and culture-building efforts.
Collaborate with global HR colleagues to ensure alignment across regions
What we expect from you:
3-5 years' experience in HR administration or HR generalist role.
Hands-on experience coordinating US payroll with a third-party provider (Paycor)
Strong understanding of US employment laws and payroll compliance.
High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Ability to handle confidential information with integrity
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience in a global organization.
Experience supporting benefits administration (Open Enrolment, vendor liaison).

DESCRIPTION
Michael Baker International is seeking a detail-oriented Natural Resources Intern with a strong interest in plants, wildlife, and/or restoration to support our Santa Ana, CA office. The successful candidate would assist with day-to day projects at the direction of the Michael Baker Natural Resources Task/Project Manager. The manager would provide work associated with biological studies, stream/wetland delineation and permitting, and ecosystem restoration. This is an exciting opportunity to join a team of experienced ecologists, biologists, planners, GIS analysts, landscape architects, and engineers dedicated to having a positive impact through intentional work.
The Natural Resources Intern will be expected to provide field assistance, office assistance, data analysis, and technical review to support Michael Baker International's multi-disciplinary planning services for federal, state, and local government clients, as well as private sector clients. In-office and in-field work would be conducted in close coordination with the manager and Natural Resources team members.
Responsibilities include:
Collect and compile a variety of quantitative and qualitative data to prepare reports and maps, includes technical writing and analysis.
Conduct jurisdictional delineations and prepare regulatory permit applications.
Perform habitat restoration site implementation monitoring and photo-documentation.
Conduct local biological surveys and fieldwork data collection (within a two-hour drive).
Conduct construction mitigation monitoring (overseeing seeding, planting, and weed abatement) and prepare summary memos of the work effort.
Prepare technical research and report writing (e.g., mitigation plans, memos, wetland and biological reports).
Support the facilitation of both in-person and virtual community/stakeholder outreach and engagement.
Training on items above.
Availability is targeted at 20 hours; however, this is flexible and can vary (more or less) based on current or projected workload.
PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Currently enrolled as a part-time or full-time student in good academic standing at an accredited University, College or Technical School.
Working towards a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in an environmental- related discipline.
Possesses strong analytical skills, excellent writing and oral communications skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Microsoft Office Suite.
Driver's License.
Must be able to travel in southern California and hike in different weather conditions and sometimes difficult terrain.
Ability to work both remotely and in-person at local Santa Ana office.
COMPENSATION
The approximate compensation range for this position is $20 - $25 per hour. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
