General Job Summary
The Application Systems Specialist will be responsible for implementing, managing, maintaining, and updating IT applications. He understands the business issues and opportunities in the context of the requirements and recommends solutions that enable the organization to achieve its goals. Responsible for providing technical assistance and support to Island Finance users related to computer systems, hardware or software. Strong proficiency in SQL and database concepts. Respond to queries, run diagnostic programs, isolate the problem, and determine and implement the solution. Strong knowledge of Database and Oracle. Expertise in major versions of technology stack including Database, iAS, Forms, Reports, PL/SQL, Java, and WebLogic.
It will support the Island Finance Oracle Finance application among other IF applications. Reports to the IT Application Administrator.
Essential Function and Responsibilities
Develop business requirements and processes in Oracle Financial Service Lending & Leasing (OFSLL) application.
Assesses user's needs, creates specifications, and presents best practice recommendations.
Develop and execute system test plans.
Develop and execute plans for deploying the applications into production.
Work with technical developers and database administrators to correct issues in the functioning of the Island Finance applications.
Install Oracle patches to OFSLL application environments, following established procedures
Maintain updated and performance tuning Oracle environments including DR
Manage and work through Oracle's (Service Requests) SR escalation process, applying software patches and upgrading the Oracle Applications environments.
Facilitate in creating training material for users on the use of the business applications
Maintain full and accurate documentation of all reported problems along with their resolution.
With the guidance of Applications Administrator, schedules installations and upgrades and maintains them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures.
Implement changes timely following Change Management Process, including identifying where changes can improve application functionality and effectiveness.
Identify opportunities for improvement in efficiency and effectiveness of business operations.
Participate in implementation, testing and training of Oracle software upgrades.
Works on planning and execution of change, problem, incidents, production processes, controls and service requests.
Escalates unresolved issues to proper personnel.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Information Technology.
More than 3 years of experience in software applications, either in process improvement or application support.
Advanced knowledge of database structure and theory.
2+ years MS SQL server
Experience with backups, restores and recovery models
Familiarity with reporting tools.
Experience with cloud-based services.
Subject matter expertise in application support and business operations in banking and financial services.
General experience and understanding of Office 365.
Strong analytical and decision-making skills required with a high degree of accuracy.
