The Associate Network Engineer (VOIP) is an entry level position working for Steward's telecom department. The Associate Network Engineer (VoIP) will be responsible for managing 2nd level Help Desk tickets to resolve end user issues related to the UC environment. This positon will also be responsible for assisting in maintaining the Steward Cisco IP Telephony infrastructure. This includes analysis, and maintaining Unified Communications hardware and Unified Communications hardware configurations; supporting/troubleshooting network/system problems; coordinating with vendors for maintenance and installation of UC hardware and software, and device implementations.

The Associate Network Engineer (VoIP will workwith other Network and Security Engineers, System Administrators, Systems Analysts, IS Help Desk staff, Technicians, Vendors, and Users relating to applications associated with a production-UC environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

2nd level support to provide User assistance through use of Footprints ticketing system. Assist with installing and maintaining Unified Communications hardware and UC server configurations; supporting/troubleshooting UC problems; coordinating with vendors for installation of UC hardware and software, and assisting with project implementations. Follows all Steward Standards and Protocols including escalation procedure, documenting and change management guidelines. Keeps abreast of vendor best practices, industry trends and changes in network software and hardware technologies to improve current service levels. Off hours' availability for emergencies and change windows is required. Performs regular on-call duties as scheduled.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Basic understanding in network and telephony design, Layer 3 switching/routing, VoIP protocols, and QoS with focus on highly availability, security, resiliency, low latency, and business continuity. Basic experience in telecommunication and integration with Data/Telephony system from other vendors. Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to take direction. Excellent teamwork skills. Knowledge of network and VoIP troubleshooting techniques. Knowledge of Survivable Remote Site Telephony (SRST) architecture and best practices. Ability to prioritize daily work-flow. Ability to communicate effectively to Steward personnel, including Management and IS staff, using written and oral formats. Ability to plan and be proactive in approach, must possess the ability to solve problems creatively. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret applicable technical documentation, system reports, software licenses and contracts. Travel between the various Steward Hospitals, in Massachusetts and across the country. All other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/LICENSURE/TECHNICAL/OTHER

Education: 2-year college program certificate, or equivalent work experience Experience: 2 years' experience in a customer service focused environment, Healthcare IT preferred Certification/Licensure: None required;Preferred industry certifications include: CCNA, CCNP, CCIE or other Cisco certification. Software/Hardware: Experience with Cisco network and VOIP products is recommended.Proficiency in a scripting for UCCX is desirable.Experience with Unix (especially Linux) is desirable.

Georgia State University's Instructional Innovation and Technology (IIT) is seeking a Network Engineer Associate to join our vibrant and growing team. Under the general supervision of the Assistant Director of Network Engineering and limited direction from Network Engineering Leads, the Network Engineer Associate will provide technical assistance for Network Infrastructure failures as identified by monitoring tools or inspections. The Network Engineer Associate will also resolve incidents or requests assigned to the group via current Ticketing System, to include but not limited to Telephony, Network Infrastructure, Switch, Router or Firewall, Wireless, VPN, etc. This position will ensure adherence to technology standards policies and drives continuous improvement in services. The Network Engineer Associate is a technical position responsible for the administration of University wide network system.

The scope of responsibilities for this position will include these essential duties but is not limited to the following:

* Assist with the design, installation, configuration, and management of the operations of the campus network infrastructure hardware and software according to industry best practices, IIT, BOR and vendor recommendations.

* Provide level I & II diagnostics and problem fault isolation for Networking infrastructure. This includes but not limited to networking software and hardware including Switches, Firewall, Gateways, UPS VOIP, Data Center equipment, management devices and monitoring tools.

* Assist Information Security on the tracking down and deactivation of network systems and uses with security issues.

* Provide excellent customer service and display a high level of interpersonal skills when providing services for the university community including GSU faculty, staff, students, vendors, and others.

* Create documentation for repetitive task, cross training of networking systems interconnections, configuration, and processes. Update the Knowledgebase system with new processes and procedures.

* Manage daily responsibilities including infrastructure and systems monitoring, environmental monitoring. Assists in the support of data center facilities management including floor/rack, space, power, cooling capacity planning, hosting and materials management. Perform Asset Management for all GSU IIT Network Engineering hardware, to include organizing items for surplus, conducting RMA with vendors and ensuring hardware is tracked from initial commissioning to decommission and updating internal asset management database.

* Provides after hours technical support services for GSU on an as needed basis. Provide technical assistance recovery support and services for the campus-wide network and centrally managed platform systems environment. Anticipates emergent situations and responds accordingly for all systems. Complete all other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree and one year related experience; or a combination of education and related experience.

Job Description:

The Network Engineer monitors and responds to technical control facility hardware and software problems utilizing hardware and software testing tools and techniques. The selected candidate may interface with contractor support service groups to ensure proper escalation during outages or period of degraded system performance.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


Assist with installation of terminals and associated hardware Provide network server support Requires strong knowledge of PC/Network communications hardware/software, in a multi-protocol environment, and network management software
Install, operate, maintain, monitor, manage, and troubleshoot USTRANSCOM's classified and unclassified networks (e.g., routers, switches, cabling, etc) Support all networking backbone (physical, data, network, transport, and session layers of the OSI model) issues between internal Scott AFB networks, including USTRANSCOM, Air Force, SDDC, and external networks as required Establish and implement network policies, procedures and standards and ensures their conformance with information systems and company's objectives Train users on network operation Make changes in accordance with change and configuration management processes, within the prescribed process timelines Maintain networks in accordance with applicable Defense Information System Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), DoD/USTRANSCOM guidance, and commercial best security and engineering practices Install and maintain the network transport medium (i.e., fiber, wireless, copper) to include user access drops at their desks

Provide support on an on-call basis after duty hours with a two (2) hour response time to begin work


Qualifications


This position requires 3 or more years of experience with a BS/BA.An IAT Level II certification is required. The minimum of a Secret level DoD Security Clearance is required.

Physical Requirements

Requires sitting for extended periods of time at a desk/computer terminal (90%). There is a possibility that due to parking availability and location of work area walking moderate to long distances can sometimes be required.


Work Environment

Inside office/cubicle environment. Requires ability to interact professionally with co-workers and all levels of management (100%).


Equipment and Machines

Requires ability to operate a personal computer, a telephone, copier, and other general office equipment (100%). Ability to conduct evaluation of third and fourth generation or current state of the art computer hardware and software and its ability to support specific requirements, interfacing with other equipment and systems.


Attendance

Attendance is critical. Work hours are normally 8 hours per day and 5 days per week, Monday through Friday. Being prompt is important to provide continuous and on-going service to customers. Attendance is important to maintain continuity of service. Work outside of normal duty hours may be required with as little as one hour advance notice. Overtime is infrequent, but important when required (1%).


Other Essential Functions

Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Must be able to interface with individuals at all levels of the organization. Must be able to obtain unescorted access to work areas. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others. The minimum of an interim Secret level DoD Security Clearance is required.
