OBN's top priorities are to efficiently license the nursing workforce and remove unsafe practitioners from practice in a timely manner to protect Ohio patients. Public protection is critical, as nursing touches virtually every citizen of Ohio. At the direction of supervisor, designs, implements & maintains the information technology infrastructure for the Board. Manages the evaluation, installation, configuration, expansion & repair of network hardware & software (e.g., servers, databases, workstations, network interfaces, switches, routers, printers, cloud architecture, etc.). Uses agency & State approved security tools to protect systems, networks & data from cyber threats by preventing unauthorized access, detecting malicious activity, responding to incidents & securing applications. Assists with creating, updating & enforcing security standards, best practices & disaster recovery plans. Assists with configuring & supporting systems using modern network protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, SMB). Ensuring stable connectivity for Local Area Networks (LAN), Wide Area Networks (WAN), VPNs & secure remote access. Maintains integration with State and external networks while adhering to compliance & security standards. Researches, evaluates & advises emerging technologies to enhance organizational capabilities. Participates in projects, manages & supports vendors & evaluates new technologies to support the Board. Diagnoses, resolves & documents hardware & software issues across network, endpoint & integrated systems. Troubleshoots recurring problems related to connectivity, printing, email, server performance and application functionality. Provides technical computer assistance to end users as required; performs implementation & user training for proprietary software packages; assists in installing software applications on desktops &/or servers; pilots software packages to develop knowledge to train end users; attends meeting & demonstrations with vendors to assist with purchasing decisions; troubleshoots &/or corrects computer-related problems as required. Provides administrative support for information technology initiatives, assists with planning & implementation of hardware, software & system upgrades or modifications. Maintains comprehensive documentation network configurations, processes & procedures to ensure operational continuity, efficiency & compliance. Manages software licenses & physical inventory to ensure adherence to Board or State policies, copyrights & vendor agreements. Assists with forecasting & scheduling hardware & software lifecycle replacements & upgrades.
