Seasoned medical device executive with substantial experience in European commercialization and PMA devices. Have led both a private, venture-backed company (Sequent) and a publicly-traded company (MicroTherapeutics) to successful exits. Experience consists of an eleven-year stint at Medtronic, including six years in Europe and Asia, followed by fourteen years as CEO of both private and public companies.

Zi-Ping Fang, Ph.D. - Chief Scientific Officer. PhD in Biomedical Engineering focused on neurostimulation technology from Case Western Reserve University. Over 25 years of neurostimulation R&D, pre-clinical and clinical research leading to FDA approval, including technology leadership and management and executive responsibility in neurostimulation startup business development and operations including Nevro and NeuroControl.

Bill joined Sequent in May 2010. He has 16 years of medical device experience and 5 years of academic biophysics experience. Bill holds BS and PhD degrees from UC Davis and UC Irvine, respectively, and did a postdoctoral fellowship at UCLA. Before and after his PhD, Bill worked in R&D positions of increasing responsibility for Baxter Healthcare, TherOx, Micro Therapeutics, ev3, and Luminous Medical. He has a proven track record of converting ideas into commercial medical devices, particularly in the neurovascular space. With over 30 issued and pending US patents, Bill participated in the successful PMA approval for Onyx and developed the Micro Therapeutics/ev3 aneurysm products Nexus, Morpheus, and Axium.
