The University of California Agriculture and Natural Resources (UC ANR) is a highly complex organization with operations spanning 58 county offices, five UC campuses, and nine research and extension centers across the State of California . This network of UC researchers and educators is dedicated to the creation, development, and application of knowledge in agriculture, natural resources, and community health and economic prosperity.
The UC ANR Financial Services Unit, within the Office of the Controller, provides leadership and technical expertise in the development, management, analysis, reporting, and coordination of financial services for UC ANR. The unit ensures that UC ANR's financial activities, including those of the regional, county, and special program offices, comply with University business and finance regulations as well as funding agency requirements. This includes a range of accounting functions such as analyzing, monitoring, preparing, and reconciling financial information to reflect the organization's financial condition. The unit is also involved in the preparation of financial reports to meet both internal and external reporting requirements and to support operational control. Position Summary
The General Accountant in the Financial Services unit is responsible for performing complex accounting tasks, including analyzing, monitoring, preparing, and reconciling financial information. This ensures the accurate representation of the organization's financial condition and supports internal and external reporting requirements. Additionally, the role involves developing, implementing, and monitoring accounting systems, policies, and procedures.
This position uses professional accounting knowledge to resolve complex assignments, often involving data analysis from multiple sources. The General Accountant will exercise judgment within defined accounting practices, working with general guidance and detailed instructions for more complex tasks. The role involves regular communication with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure accurate financial management.
Financial management is complex, involving multiple campuses and the Office of the President, each with distinct and different financial information and accounting systems. This position reports directly to the Oakland office location. Our current policy supports a hybrid work model, which may require occasional travel to our Davis office.
This position is a contract appointment that is 100% fixed and ends one year from the date of hire, with the possibility of extension if funding permits.
The home department for this position is Financial Services. Position Overview:
The University of California , Agriculture and Natural Resources (UC ANR) invites applications for an Associate Director/Academic Coordinator II with the UC ANR Policy Institute.
Location Headquarters: UC ANR, Davis, CA .
Purpose:
The Associate Director/Academic Coordinator II will provide statewide coordination and leadership for activities of the UC ANR Policy Institute. Specifically, this position will collaborate with the Director to develop new sources of funding including preparing grant applications and engaging with donors. This position will also communicate science-based research, pursue new opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration with researchers internal and external to UC ANR, oversee contracts and grants, build relationships with local, state, and federal policymakers, and serve as a resource for UC academics engaging in science-to-policy work.
The UC ANR Policy Institute (Policy Institute), housed within the University of California Agriculture and Natural Resources, will be the one-stop shop for policymakers to find and easily access scientists and cutting-edge research on issues critical to California . The Policy Institute will also connect affiliated researchers to work across specialty areas, serve as a resource for UC academics interested in expanding policy-relevant work and communications, and will establish a policy advisory board to help identify priority research areas, grant opportunities, and partnerships. The Policy Institute will also conduct original research and real-time economic analyses to remain relevant and responsive to timely, critical issues.
Alignment. As described in UC ANR's Vision 2040, California faces a complex, ever-changing regulatory environment in which science-based input and community engagement are needed to inform policy decisions and implementation. Now more than ever, solutions are needed to mitigate the impact of extreme weather events and other disasters, advance more efficient methods of agriculture production, further sustainable land stewardship, strengthen food systems, and build resiliency to future impacts of social, political, and ecological challenges. As these challenges increase in complexity so, too, do their solutions. Local, state, and federal policies and regulations must adapt and be responsive, taking into consideration current scientific and technological advances.
This position will help UC ANR achieve its mission of cultivating thriving communities, sustainable agriculture, resilient ecosystems, and economic prosperity in California through development and sharing of equitable and collaborative science-based solutions that have national and global impact. Through research, education, extension, and outreach, this position will contribute to each of UC ANR's Public Value Statements.
Clientele. The UC ANR Policy Institute's clientele is necessarily broad given that it conducts a wide variety of activities, from conducting original research, calculating real-time economic analyses, and communicating science with policymakers. The Associate Director/Academic Coordinator II will primarily work with UC researchers and local, state, and federal policymakers, as well as partner organizations and stakeholders.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide statewide coordination for activities of the UC ANR Policy Institute.
Lead and contribute to effective communication efforts (e.g., develop and maintain websites, social media, blogs, and other media).
Develop, adapt, implement, and evaluate program activities, training, curriculum, and other educational activities and multi-media materials aligned with strategic plan and/or clientele needs.
Write policy briefs and support academics in writing policy briefs.
Develop proposals for extramural funding (e.g., grants, contracts, gifts/donations).
Effectively communicate science-based research to a variety of audiences.
Collaborate with other UC ANR academics, campus-based specialists and faculty and/or others, to address priority issues.
Oversee contracts and grants.
Serve as a resource for UC academics engaging in science-to-policy work.
Design and deliver professional development opportunities for academics engaging in science-to-policy communications.
Create a positive environment that supports the success of the unit team and team members - includes modeling and supporting a good team working environment. Sets goals and target outputs for shared clarity of vision.
Represent UC ANR in a professional manner. Liaison representation with other agencies and institutions in the public and private sectors.

Reporting Relationship:
The Associate Director/Academic Coordinator II reports to the Director of the UC ANR Policy Institute who is responsible for supervision and evaluation of the position, and works closely with Associate Directors within the UC ANR Policy Institute on programs and projects. This position also collaborates with UC ANR academics, Cooperative Extension staff, other UC academics, Vice Provost of Academic Personnel, Associate Vice-President, and Vice-President.

A minimum of a Master's degree in agricultural, environmental, social sciences, or related field, with coursework or experience relevant to agricultural extension and public policy is required at the time of appointment. Doctoral degree is preferred.

The UC Master Gardener Program is an educational program under UC ANR designed to teach and effectively extend information that addresses gardening needs in communities throughout the state of California and addresses the strategic initiatives of UC ANR. Since 1981, the UC Master Gardener Program has been extending UC Research-based information about home horticulture and pest management to the public. UC trained and certified Master Gardener volunteers offer services and outreach to the general public in 53 California counties through local UCCE offices. Last year 6,216 active UC Master Gardener volunteers donated 395,239 hours, and 7.7+ million hours have been donated since the program's inception.
Position Summary:
This position will enhance UC Master Gardener Program effectiveness through the development and management of in person and online trainings. Responsibilities include project management and oversight of statewide trainings, including online webinars, new coordinator and advisor onboarding, regional/statewide advanced training, triennial statewide conference, as well as training assets such as expert speaker database, hands-on activities to support eLearning, creation of toolkits, in-person instruction materials/support, and ongoing communication/relationship building with subject matter experts.
This position will work closely with the eLearning Specialist who will serve as lead for the Training Specialist. Working together, this team will ensure the effective integration of eLearning instruction into the program's training framework. They will spearhead the creation and execution of annual training plans, contributing to 5-year and strategic planning efforts pertaining to programmatic training and related support requirements.
They will inform the training budget for the statewide program, requiring financial stewardship to optimize resources while meeting training objectives effectively. Where possible, they will pursue funding and partnership opportunities to expand on existing and future training opportunities.

The University of California , Agriculture and Natural Resources (UC ANR) invites applications for a UC Cooperative Extension (UCCE) Environmental Horticulture Advisor at the Assistant rank serving Marin, Napa, and Sonoma Counties.
The Environmental Horticulture Advisor is responsible for educational and applied research programs covering a wide array of disciplines for Marin, Napa, and Sonoma Counties. Challenges faced in all three counties include maintaining water quality and supply, efficiently disposing of and recycling green waste, and reducing pesticide use in the face of an increasingly urbanized population of plant diseases and pests that impact the ecosystems and economies of the three-county area.
UCCE Advisors are responsible for conducting applied research and extending knowledge. Research activities are applied and mission-oriented, focused on addressing challenges in our communities. Extension activities are the educational methods that Advisors use to share research results directly with clientele and communities, increasing knowledge and understanding of science-based research that promotes the adoption of practices and technologies to solve local problems. Extension activities may include individual farm consultations, presentations, or organizing educational workshops, short courses, and field demonstrations. Information may also be disseminated through various channels, such as radio, webinars, fact sheets, policy briefs, news blogs, social media, and other outlets. Publications are expected in various formats, including newsletters, articles for the popular press, curricula, conference proceedings, and peer-reviewed journals.
Successful research and extension programs result in new information that improves knowledge or understanding, and eventual adoption of new skills or practices, changed attitudes or policies, and improved environmental, economic, or social conditions. UCCE Advisors are evaluated through an academic advancement system based on four criteria: 1) extending knowledge, 2) applied research and creative activity, 3) professional competence and activity, and 4) university and public service.

Position Details
The Environmental Horticulture Advisor conducts collaborative extension education and applied research programs in Marin, Napa, and Sonoma Counties, in collaboration with other University/UCANR academics, staff, and local stakeholders. Research and education topics for this position cover a wide array of disciplines categorized under the heading of environmental horticulture, such as arboriculture, integrated pest management (including plant pathology, entomology, and invasive weeds), horticulture, soils, green waste recycling, irrigation, and residential defensible space for fire. Solutions are focused on community-oriented goals, including efforts to protect California 's natural resources, build more resilient communities and landscapes, and develop a more qualified landscaping workforce in the Bay Area.
The Advisor supports a broad array of commercial tree care and landscape design and maintenance clientele to address local landscape and environmental needs and threats. They also collaborate and partner with professional organizations, local agency and government personnel, conservation groups, and other non-governmental organizations with information via consultation, technology transfer, communication, and liaison activities This position also assumes academic oversight for the UC Marin and Napa Master Gardener Programs, with an aim toward expanded understanding of science-based environmental horticulture practices for area property owners and managers. By collaborating with local stakeholders and UC ANR staff, the Environmental Horticulture Advisor provides information to support workable solutions for key environmental issues faced by governments, businesses, and residents in Marin, Napa, and Sonoma counties.
Counties of Responsibility.
This position will serve Marin, Napa, and Sonoma Counties.
Reporting Relationship:
In this appointment, you will report directly to the UC Cooperative Extension Area Director for Marin, Napa, and Sonoma Counties, with input from the Director of the Master Gardener Statewide Program. This is not a remote position; the candidate must be available to work onsite at the headquarters location and travel to and be present in all three counties served. Upon hire, the supervisor will outline specific expectations for maintaining office hours and fieldwork in the geographic area covered by this position.
Qualifications and Skills Required
Education:
A minimum of a master's degree in horticulture, plant pathology, entomology, or a related field is required at the time of appointment.
Key Qualifications
Experience in conducting applied, impact-oriented research and education in topics related to environmental horticulture.
Capacity or potential to accomplish team-based research and education programs consistent with the values of UCANR.

The Division of Critical Care in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Stanford University seeks a Board-Certified Emergency Medicine and Critical Care physician to join the Department as an Associate Professor/ Full Professor in the University Medical Line or as a Clinical Associate Professor/ Full Clinical Professor in the Clinician Educator Line in the role of Emergency Critical Care Division Chief within the Stanford Department of Emergency Medicine and Stanford Health Care.
Critical Care Medicine (CCM) at Stanford Health Care is a leading program that draws local, national, and international referrals. The Emergency Critical Care (ECC) Division is a key part of this multidisciplinary program, providing care in the medical-surgical intensive care units at Stanford, focusing on triage, resuscitation, and early interventions to improve the care of critically ill patients regardless of location within the hospital. The Emergency Critical Care Division Chief contributes critical input into all aspects of patient care and co-leads strategic operational, educational, and scholarly efforts. Stanford's competitive CCM fellowship programs continue to attract some of the brightest future intensivists. Case volume and complexity provide unique opportunities for impactful scholarship, benefiting from cutting-edge, collaborative research programs across departments and schools.
We are particularly interested in candidates who have demonstrated clinical excellence with a strong background in leadership and academic accomplishments in critical care medicine. We seek candidates with administrative, academic, and clinical practice management experience in critical care medicine. The candidate's commitment to the growth of the ECC academic program is paramount to advancing patient care, driving innovation, and mentoring future leaders. The multidisciplinary approach to critical care at Stanford Medicine also requires fostering a collaborative culture and engaging with other participating departments. The Emergency Critical Care Division Chief will represent the department and its faculty in a multidisciplinary setting, including in the medical-surgical and intensive care units at Stanford Medicine. The Emergency Critical Care Division Chief will oversee clinical care, operational strategy, educational, faculty development, and scholarly efforts beyond a single intensive care unit's clinical care and operational needs. Candidates with an established track record of peer-reviewed research and extramural funding are of particular interest.
Applicants must have board certification or equivalent in emergency medicine, subspecialty training, and board certification in critical care medicine.
The major criteria for appointment for faculty in the University Medical Line shall be excellence in the overall mix of clinical care, clinical teaching, scholarly activity that advances clinical medicine, and institutional service appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill. The expected base pay range for this position is:
Associate Professor: $356,000 - $374,000
Professor: $389,000 - $404,000
This pay range reflects base pay, which is based on faculty rank and years in rank.
